Why didn't the Apostle Paul and other New Testament writers say more about Christ's physical life and ministry?

The Bible is the inspired Word of God. As Revelation 22:18 shows, it is complete as we have it. Christ was the Word in the flesh (John 1:1-4, 14). He stated, in John 10:10, “…I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” The Bible contains all the necessary information for us to be able to know and understand God’s plan and purpose, and to live healthy, peaceful, orderly, abundant lives.

Paul stated, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (II Tim. 3:16-17). God inspired the writing of the Bible, and, as I Corinthians 10:6 states, “…these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things…”

Paul expounded on the aspects of Christ’s life after His Resurrection, showing the importance of the spiritual elements (“the spirit of the law” [Rom. 2:29; 7:6; II Cor. 3:6;] that also are to be present in every Christian’s life (Gal. 2:20). Christ Himself gave the guidelines for this in Matthew 5:1-48.

God inspired Moses to write, in Deuteronomy 4:2, “You shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall you diminish aught from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.” No one has the authority to alter God’s Word.

Therefore, if God would have considered it important for Paul, or any other New Testament writer, to provide more information about the details of Christ’s life, He would have inspired him to do so. It is interesting to note that, although Paul was inspired to cite many Old Testament scriptures, most professing Christians claim that the Old Testament is irrelevant for us today. However, they are quick to cite Paul as the source of many of their clearly unscriptural doctrines.

And, although their lives do not reflect what is in the Bible, many who claim to be Christian often raise the question, “Why does it not say more?” They continually twist, distort, cloud, pervert and otherwise misrepresent the Bible, cover to cover.

As Christ stated, in John 8:40, “But now you seek to kill Me, a Man that has told you the truth, which I heard of God.” Even if the Bible did say more, people would no more live by it than they now do.
