Trumpet Ministries, Revelation 12:3

Back to THE RULER

And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. (Revelation 12:3)

The Church, the Wife of the Lamb, is a sign in the spirit realm because she is being created from the body and blood of the Lamb and because her "life is hid with Christ in God."

The red dragon also is a sign in the spirit realm. Neither he nor the woman can be seen with physical eyes. He has taken his place in front of the woman. The Church and Satan are engaged in a fierce struggle that as yet has not been concluded. Truly, the Church is not contending with people but with rebellious angels who rule in the heavens.

The fiery-red dragon has "seven heads," symbolizing the perfect wisdom and knowledge God has given to him.

The dragon has "ten horns." Some believe ten, in the Scriptures, symbolizes the world. Horns typify the power to overcome an opponent and to exert one’s will. Wicked spiritual princes, seated on the thrones in the air above us, exert their will in the earth.

Christ will give to the dragon the ability to overcome for a brief season the testimony of the saints (Revelation 11:7; 13:7).

The dragon has "seven crowns on his heads." Crowns portray royal authority. God will give a fullness of authority to Satan for a controlled period of time so God’s purposes may be executed fully in the earth.

It is not that God is in any sort of alliance with Satan. It is that God, being infinitely superior in wisdom and power, is accomplishing His purposes through the vicious and abominable works of Satan. It is necessary that stumbling blocks come in order that the Kingdom of God may be established in the hearts of men. But woe to those individuals through whom the necessary stumbling blocks come!

If we will resist the temptation to fret and irritate ourselves with the evil in this world, choosing instead to praise God through Christ for the Glory of God that fills the whole earth, God will cause the evil things to work together for our good. All that takes place will serve to conform us to the image of His beloved Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
