The faith which the gospel requires

"If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me!" Matthew 16:24

Christ asks for absolute surrender to Him. He wants us to trust Him, while we obey Him unquestioningly.

The faith which the gospel requires , is the utter unreserved devotement of the whole life to Christ, and the unquestioning committal of every interest and hope to Him, for time and for eternity!

The question what He will do with us or for us, how He will provide for us — should not for an instant be raised. There must be no conditions in the following and the consecration to Christ.

We may not bargain with Him for an easy, comfortable life — but should simply give ourselves to Him absolutely and forever, to follow where and to whatever He may lead us.

"Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me, cannot be My disciple." Luke 14:27
