A DAILY CONFESSION FOR CHRISTIANS

This is an expanded study of the daily confession included in author's study Confessing God's Word, in his book Foundational Truths of the Christian Faith. The scriptures used there are added to here and expounded to give Christians a greater appreciation of their authority in Christ to proclaim God's word over their circumstances in life.

A daily confession by Christians is a daily profession of their faith in God's word to fulfil itself. It is a true expression of faith in God to perform His word because it is boldly proclaimed at the start of each day before any situation arises that might gain an advantage over Christians. In their daily confession Christians are by faith speaking the end result for the day into being before the day even commences. The confession is based on God's promises in scripture to answer the prayers of His children and to supply their every need. Hereunder is the daily confession with the scriptures from which the confession is derived, ensuring its efficacy:

I confess today is a good day, (CP Psa 118:24). This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. There will be days when it may seem impossible for Christians to rejoice under the circumstances, but if they will rejoice notwithstanding, God will nullify the circumstances (CP Ac 16:22-26). Notwithstanding their circumstances - they were locked up in the deepest dungeon in the prison, unable to move, with their feet fastened in the stocks - Paul and Silas rejoiced. They sang praises unto God. Their joy was completely independent of their circumstances. Their spirits rose superior to the difficulty and limitations of their situation and God delivered them from it. He was then glorified in the salvation of the jailer and his family (CP V 27-34). If Christians allow themselves to be overwhelmed by their circumstances they are not able to be used of God for His glory (CP Ac 5:40-42; 2Cor 7:4; 8:1-4; Jas 1:2-4; 1Pe 4:13).

I proclaim all that is good, all that is blessed of God, all that God has designed for me shall be mine today in Jesus' name, (CP 2Cor 1:19-20). We learn from what Paul says here is that there is not one promise of God in scripture that is no to a Christian - they are all yes in Christ. And providing one meets the conditions, there are no limitations whatsoever on what Christians may ask for in the name of Jesus, or speak into being on the authority of His word (CP Mt 17:20; 21:21-22; Mk 11:22-26; Lu 17:6; Jn 14:12-14; 15:7-8, 16; 16:23; 1Jn 3:19-22; 5:14-15). Every promise of God in scripture is yes to Christians, in Jesus' name.

I am blessed coming in; I am blessed going out, (CP De 28:6). God's children are blessed in all they undertake (CP De 28:12; Psa 5:12). God's favour encompasses His children as a shield.

I am blessed with all spiritual blessings in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus, (CP Eph 1:3). The past tense is used here - hath. The blessings referred to are already in place for those in Christ. They are the pure doctrines of the gospel and the full graces and the gifts of the Spirit, which are necessary for Christians' witness in the world (CP V 4-12 with 1Cor 12:1-11). Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world, (CP 1Jn 4:4). He that is in me is the Holy Spirit who indwells Christians and empowers them for service (CP V 13; 3:24). He that is in the world is the devil who Christians have already overcome by the Holy Spirit (CP 2:13-14 with Eph 2:2; 1Jn 3:8-10; 5:18-19).

There shall no evil befall me, neither shall any plague come nigh my dwelling, for He has given His angels charge over me. They keep me in all my ways, (CP Psa 91:10-11). Regardless of what disaster may befall others it will not affect Christians who comply with God's direction for their life (CP V 9). No evil of any description or plague can overcome Christians who have made God their habitation - their abode, their dwelling place (CP Job 5:17-23; Psa 112:4, 6-8; Pr 3:23-26; 12:21; 37: 18-19). God sends His angels to minister to Christians' every need. They are lifted up by the angels so they do not even stub their toe (CP V 12 with Psa 34:7; 103:20; He 1:14). Christians who have made God their habitation have power over wild beasts, venomous snakes and other poisonous creatures as well as power over all Satanic powers they symbolise (CP Psa 91:13 with Lu 10:1, 17-20; Mk 16:17-18).

No weapon formed against me will prosper, (CP Isa 54:17). God will not allow evil plots and false accusations to prevail against His children. They will be victorious against all who speak against them falsely (CP V 14-15; 17:12-14; 29:8). This is the children of God's heritage. They are vindicated by God. He imparts that to them as their justification (CP 45:24-25 with 2Cor 5:21).

But whatever I do I will prosper. I am like a tree planted by the rivers of water, (CP Psa 1:1-3). Christians' lives are characterised by righteousness. They do not seek advice from the ungodly, nor do they associate with sinners or keep company with scoffers - those who ridicule God and the things of God - but seek guidance for life from God's word. They are like trees planted by rivers of water that do not wither but provide fruit in season for all to partake of - they are fruit-bearing too. Their spiritual life is not subject to cyclical change but is characterised by continuous inner renewal. They prosper in everything they do, both spiritually and financially (CP Josh 1:8 with Psa 112:1-3; Pr 3:8-9; 8:20-21; 3Jn 2). It is God's will to prosper His children financially as well as heal their bodies and save their souls.

I lack for no good thing. My God supplies all my needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus, (CP Php 4:19). As faithful supporters of the cause of the gospel of Christ Christians are assured that God will meet their every need (CP V 15-19 with Pr 11:24-25).

I have all sufficiency in all things and abound to all good works, for my God has made all grace around toward me, (CP 2Cor 9:8). Because of their liberal hearts God makes all grace abound toward Christians and provides them will all sufficiency in all things. He increases their resources to meet their own, and the various needs of others (CP V 7-11).

Today I am filled with the love of God. I am filled with the joy of the Lord. I am filled with the peace of God, (CP Ga 5:22). Love, joy, peace are the fruit of the Holy Spirit produced in Christians as they are conformed to the image of Christ. Love is the deepest possible expression of the personality and of the closeness of personal relations. This is the love that God is Himself, and which believers exhibit to be identified with God (CP Jn 13:34-35; Ro 13:8-10; 1Jn 4:7-21). This love is self-sacrificing, patient, kind; never jealous, haughty, boastful or proud; never acts unbecomingly or indecently; is not self-seeking; is never rude or discourteous; does not become irritated or angry; does not keep account of wrong done to it. It thinketh no evil and does not rejoice in that which is evil, but only in that which is true (CP 1Cor 13:3-7). This love is produced in the hearts of Christians by the Holy Spirit (CP Ro 5:5). Joy is the happy state that characterises the Christian life. It emanates from Christians' love for God and the assurance they have that the end of their faith is the salvation of their souls (CP 1Pe 1:8-9). Joy is not to be confused with happiness, which is the outward expression of pleasure, a superficial emotion dependant upon circumstances. Joy is not the result of favourable circumstances; it manifests under the most extreme conditions (CP Ac 5:40-42; 16:19-33; 2Cor 7:4, 13; 8:1-5; He 12:1-3; Jas 1:2-4; 1Pe 4:13). God Himself is the ground and object of Christians' joy (CP Neh 8:10; Psa 16:11; 35:9; Isa 61:10; Ro 5:11; 15:13; Php 4:4).

Peace is the sense of well-being, the spiritual tranquillity that comes from God in the midst of the storms of life. It is an abiding confidence Christians have in the knowledge that God will sustain them in all their circumstances (CP Jn 14:27, 16:33; Ro 8:6, 15:13; Php 4:6-7 with Php 4:11-13). It was the peace of God abiding in Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the Old Testament that enabled them to willingly be consigned to the fiery furnace (CP Dan 3:4-28), and for Daniel to be willingly cast into the lion's den (CP Dan 6:1-23).

I confess the many benefits of Calvary today. All my sins are forgiven. All my diseases are healed. I am preserved and strong in God. I am crowned with His loving kindness and tender mercy, and my strength is renewed as the eagle, (CP Psa 103:1-5). God forgives all who puts their faith in Jesus and the finished work of the cross of Calvary for their salvation. As their sins are forgiven, so too there is healing for their bodies --there is bodily healing in the atonement (CP Isa 53:4-5 with 1Pe 2:24). Christ's atoning death provides for Christians' physical healing as well as their spiritual healing. Griefs and sorrows in Isa 53:4 (KJV), means sicknesses and pains. Christians are redeemed from destruction - they are preserved and strong in God (CP Psa 31:23-24; 37:28-29; 97:10-11; 145:20; Pr 2:8; 1Th 5:23; Jude 1:1). Christians are crowned with God's loving kindness and tender mercy (CP Psa 25:6; 107:42-43; 145:9; Jer 9:23-24; 32:18), and their strength is renewed as the eagle (CP Isa 40:29-31).

I am redeemed from the curse of the law and from every sickness and disease and everything else under the curse, (CP Ga 3:13-14). The curse from which Christians have been redeemed by Christ includes every type of sickness and disease there is, plus famine, pestilence, poverty, failing in business, being debt ridden etc, etc. They are all listed in De 28:15-68. Christians need to read them to know the full extent of the curse from which they have been redeemed (CP De 28:15-68). The blessings of Abraham for Christians in Ga 3:14 is their justification by faith in Christ (CP Gen 15:6; Ro 4:1-25; Ga 3:6-14). Because of Christ, Abraham, his descendants, and all who are justified by faith with him --Christians - will inherit the earth (CP Ro 4:11-12 with Psa 37:11; Mt 5:5; 25:34; Rev 5:10; 22:4-5).

I have been washed in the blood of Jesus, (CP Rev 1:5). Christians are cleansed of all unrighteousness by the blood Jesus shed in His atoning death on the cross (CP Mt 26:26-28). This is not to say that Christians do not sin - they do, but they are not habitual sinners. When they sin God has made provision for them to confess, and receive His forgiveness. This keeps Christians in an undefiled condition - they are cleansed from all unrighteousness (CP Psa 32:1-5; 119:1-3; Pr 28:13; 1Jn 1:5-9).

Jesus Himself took my infirmities and bore my sicknesses and by His stripes I am healed, (CP Isa 53:4-5; Mt 8:16-17; 1Pe 2:24). Jesus' healings in His earthly ministry foreshadowed the healing His atoning death on the cross would provide. In Mt 8:17 the griefs and sorrows of Isa 53:4 are correctly translated as infirmities and sicknesses. Jesus bore all infirmities and sicknesses and pain on the cross as well as the sins of all mankind, so Christians would not have to bear them also (CP Mt 9:1-8; Mk 16:17-18; Lu 4:16-21; Ro 5:17; Jas 5:14-16). In 1Pe 2:24, Peter is attesting to bodily healing in the atonement as an established fact accomplished by Jesus' stripes "… by whose stripes ye were healed".

The Lord is my helper and I will not fear what man can do to me, (CP He 13:5-6). Christians have a contentment founded upon the assurance of God's constant presence, for He has promised never to leave them nor forsake them (CP V 5 with Gen 28:15; De 31:6-8; Josh 1:5; 1Chr 28:20). What God is saying here in effect is that "there is absolutely no way whatsoever that I will ever, ever leave you". Christians are assured of this and they can boldly respond to their circumstances on the basis that the Lord is their helper and they will not fear what man can do to them. They also have God's promises in scripture to provide for their needs (CP Ex 23:25-26; Psa 23:1; 34:9-10; Mt 21:22; 2Cor 9:8; Php 4:19).

I rejoice today that all my family are coming into the fold of the Lord. This is my confession and I thank you Father in Jesus' name that I have what I say, (CP Mk 11:22-23). There is absolutely no limit whatsoever on what Christians may ask for in prayer or speak into being on the authority of God's word. Christians who abide in Christ and in whom His word abides, can declare the end from the beginning in conformity with God's word, and it will be done for them (CP Jn 15:7-8; 2Cor 1:19-20; 1Jn 3:21-22; 5:14-15).

Jesus is the high priest of my confession. He makes it happen today, (CP He 10:19-23). Christians can come to God's throne by the blood of Jesus with confidence, knowing that as the High Priest of their confession, Jesus is the administrator of God's word and He will bring to pass that which Christians confess in line with the word (CP Mk 11:22-23; Jn 14:12-14; 2Cor 1:19-20 with He 3:1; 4:14).

DAILY CONFESSION

I CONFESS TODAY IS A GOOD DAY. I PROCLAIM ALL THAT IS GOOD, ALL THAT IS BLESSED OF GOD, ALL THAT IS IN THE PERFECT WILL OF GOD, ALL THAT GOD HAS DESIGNED FOR ME SHALL BE MINE TODAY IN JESUS' NAME. I AM BLESSED COMING IN; I AM BLESSED GOING OUT. I AM BLESSED WITH ALL SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS IN HEAVENLY PLACES IN CHRIST JESUS.

GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN ME THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD. THERE SHALL NO EVIL BEFALL ME; NEITHER SHALL ANY PLAGUE COME NIGH MY DWELLING, FOR HE HAS GIVEN HIS ANGELS CHARGE OVER ME. THEY KEEP ME IN ALL MY WAYS. NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST ME WILL PROSPER, BUT WHATEVER I DO WILL PROSPER. I AM LIKE A TREE PLANTED BY THE RIVERS OF WATER. I LACK FOR NO GOOD THING. MY GOD SUPPLIES ALL MY NEEDS ACCORDING TO HIS RICHES IN GLORY IN CHRIST JESUS. I HAVE ALL SUFFICIENCY IN ALL THINGS AND ABOUND TO ALL GOOD WORKS, FOR MY GOD HAS MADE ALL GRACE ABOUND TOWARD ME. I CONFESS THE MANY BENEFITS OF CALVARY TODAY. ALL MY SINS ARE FORGIVEN. ALL MY DISEASES ARE HEALED. I AM PRESERVED AND STRONG IN GOD. I AM CROWNED WITH HIS LOVING KINDNESS AND TENDER MERCY, AND MY STRENGTH IS RENEWED AS THE EAGLE. I AM REDEEMED FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW AND FROM EVERY SICKNESS AND DISEASE AND EVERYTHING ELSE UNDER THE CURSE. I HAVE BEEN WASHED IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS. JESUS HIMSELF TOOK MY INFIRMITIES AND BORE MY SICKNESSES, AND BY HIS STRIPES I AM HEALED.

THE LORD IS MY HELPER AND I WILL NOT FEAR WHAT MAN CAN DO TO ME. I REJOICE TODAY THAT ALL MY FAMILY ARE COMING INTO THE FOLD OF THE LORD. THIS IS MY CONFESSION, AND I THANK YOU FATHER IN JESUS' NAME THAT I HAVE WHAT I SAY. JESUS IS THE HIGH PRIEST OF MY CONFESSION. HE MAKES IT HAPPEN TODAY.
