The Three Stages of Redemption

The Foursquare Convention this year lasted from May 29 through June 1. Pastor Stan and his family went as well as my wife, Audrey. They came back with a glowing report. Stan preached wonderfully on Sunday morning. You will be blessed if you listen to it

(6/4/2006) As soon as Stan came in early Sunday morning he said, "Guess what! You know what was preached at the convention? Bishop Ulmer said there is more for us after the Pentecostal experience. Salvation is not in two stages but in three. We are to move past Pentecost to the feast of Tabernacles."

I am sure this fact does not excite you. But consider that Stan and his family have stood with me through the years as we have taught about the feast of Tabernacles and about the three stages of redemption. We just never heard anyone else mention it. (Pioneering does not increase the ranks of one's fellowship!)

Several years ago, and I think it took place at The Church on the Way, a prophecy was given. It stated that God was going to bring a revival of repentance to the United States, and it would come through the Foursquare denomination.

I have hoped in that word since that time. Now it appears as though God is ready to bring to pass what was prophesied.

You see, the third great stage of redemption is the feast of Tabernacles. The feast of Tabernacles cannot be experienced prior to the two celebrations occurring in the same month as Tabernacles. They are the Blowing of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement.

The Blowing of Trumpets and the Jewish Day of Atonement portray the coming of Christ to assist the Church as she is brought to repentance. It is obvious God will not dwell in us until our personality has been reconciled to God, not only legally through imputation, but actually through the removal of worldliness, lust, and self-seeking from our personality.

Dr. Ulmer mentioned that Pentecost is the middle feast. There are seven feasts of the Lord. Pentecost is number four. It follows that if we believe in the Passover blood, and the Pentecostal experience of the baptism with the Holy Spirit, we ought to be looking forward to what comes after Pentecost. Does this make sense to you.

Dr. Lloyd Ogilvie, I was told, said, at the Convention, that the main word from the Holy Spirit today is "repentance." This is what I also have been hearing from the Lord.

Stan maintained that the emphasis of the Convention was on hearing from the Lord, rather than the presentation of new programs to save the world.

You cannot imagine how encouraging this is to Stan and me. I have been a Foursquare pastor for thirty years. To my knowledge, this is the first time the idea of the three stages of redemption has been emphasized at a convention, or hearing from the Lord instead of trying a new program for saving the world. I attribute this change to the leadership of Dr. Jack Hayford, the president of the Foursquare denomination, as God has guided him.

Although I was not told that the relationship of the feast of Tabernacles to the Kingdom of God was stressed at the Convention, there is such a relationship. The Kingdom of God is the dwelling of the Father and the Son in us, which is the spiritual fulfillment of the Levitical feast of Tabernacles.

I hope to hear soon that the unscriptural teaching of the pre-tribulation "rapture" has been replaced by the true Gospel, which is: "Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand." When that is preached in our denomination, my response will be: "Lord, now let Your servant depart in peace."

I hope it won't be too long.
