The 10 plus Miracles

Matthew 8 and 9

The 10 plus Miracles after the Sermon of the Mount

The Sermon of the Mount is like the Constitution of Christianity, but Christianity is not just 'wonderful words' it is also glorious 'deeds'... Christian healing and deliverance and miracles... and the two chapters after the Sermon show 10 miracles plus the deliverance of many demon-possessed ... it shows that Christianity, the Kingdom, is not only a beautiful doctrine, but also glorious "works", already here, on earth!... and, of course, each miracle is a touch of the divinity of Jesus... Jesus is God!.

Actually, Jesus is the only founder of a great religion who made miracles to show that he is God... Mohammed and Buddha never made any miracle... and Jesus is the only one who was prophesied before birth, and the only one who resurrected after a real physical death.

And still more, this wonders are to be made by the Christians because every Christian is another Christ (Gal.2:20)... and that's what the Christians did!... the book next to the Gospels is called the Acts of the Apostles... "acts", "works"... is a book full of wonders and miracles and divine works made by the Christians, Peter and Paul and John and Stephen and Philip...

In Matthew 8:

1 When he came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him.

A man with leprosy

2 A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean."

3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" Immediately he was cured of his leprosy...

There are many lepers of the soul today, touch them!... people with AIDS and cancer, touch them!... try it!, in the name of Jesus!, and you will see wonders!, 17And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons;... they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." (Mr.16:17-18).

A centurion

5 A centurion came to him, asking for help.

6 he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering.

13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! It will be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that very hour... The Roman centurion was not a Jew but a Gentile, a Pagan... you are not a Christian?... try Jesus!... you will see wonders in your life!. The words of the centurion are the ones we say before Communion, "Lord I am not worthy to receive You, but say your word and I should be healed".

Peter's mother-in-law

14- When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever.

15- He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him... Yes, you can heal even your mother-in-law!... and may be you will end up loving each other more.

demon-possessed

16- When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.... Yes, He healed all the sick... all!... we, Christians, must drive out the demons of drugs, and alcohol, and our child's rebellion, and our spouse unfaithfulness or jealousy, or our neighbors hate or resentment... or even the demons from ourselves!.

17- This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: "He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases." (Isaiah 53:4)... yes, it was prophesied 600 years before His birth.

9:35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. (Mt.9:35)

storm came up on the lake

24 Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.

25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!"

26 He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.... Do you have a furious storm in your life, at home, at work?... wake up Jesus, pray!... and Jesus always answers with a big YES!, in two ways: Either He calms the storm, heals the sickness, or calms you, and you will pass the storm in peace, even with joy, praise the Lord!.

two demon-possessed men

28 When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, or Gerasenes , two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.

31 The demons begged Jesus, "If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs."

32 He said to them, "Go!" So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water.

33 Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men.

34 Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region... Don't you ever do what the people of the town did!... don't you ever tell Jesus to leave you home or town... the health of two demon-possessed men is more important that a million pigs!.

In Matthew 9:

1 Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town.

paralytic

2 Some men brought to him a paralytic , lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven."

3 At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, "This fellow is blaspheming!"

4 Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, "Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts?

5 Which is easier: to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk'?

6 But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins...." Then he said to the paralytic, "Get up, take your mat and go home."

7 And the man got up and went home.

8 When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to men.

Healing of the Paralytic

Raises the daughter of Jairus from the dead Mt 9:18, 19, 23-26; Lk 8:41, Mr 5:22-24, 35-43

My daughter has just died

18 While he was saying this, a ruler came and knelt before him and said, ; My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her, and she will live."

19 Jesus got up and went with him, and so did his disciples.

23 When Jesus entered the ruler's house and saw the flute players and the noisy crowd,

24 he said, "Go away. The girl is not dead but asleep." But they laughed at him.

25 After the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up.

26 News of this spread through all that region

Jesus resurrected 3 persons, and, of course, the most important, Resurrected Himself This is the second resurrection, the first was the son of the widow at Nain in Luke 7, and Lazarus in John 11... the 3 of them died later on, because death is the door of eternity, to Heaven, or Hell!

bleeding for twelve years

20 Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak.

21 She said to herself, "If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed."

22 Jesus turned and saw her. "Take heart, daughter," he said, "your faith has healed you." And the woman was healed from that moment.

two blind men

27 As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, "Have mercy on us, Son of David!"

28 When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" "Yes, Lord," they replied.

29 Then he touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith will it be done to you";

30 and their sight was restored. Jesus warned them sternly, "See that no one knows about this."

31 But they went out and spread the news about him all over that region.

The healing of blind Bartimaeus follows similar line

demon-possessed and could not talk

32 While they were going out, a man who was demon-possessed and could not talk was brought to Jesus.

33 And when the demon was driven out, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowd was amazed and said, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel."

34 But the Pharisees said, "It is by the prince of demons that he drives out demons." In Mathew 12 there is a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus quickly healed him, so that he could both talk and see, with great repercusions.

The Workers Are Few

35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.

36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

37 Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.

38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

Jesus needs workers now on earth... He needs you and me to do the same he did: Teach... preach... heal the sick... cast out the demons... rise the death... the physical death and the spiritual death!.. If you are a Christian... you must cast out devils, and heal the sick!

... What a challenge and what a glory... God needs you and me!... and our neighbors!
