Suffering And Glory

If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.

Remember the words I spoke to you: ‘No servant is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me.

In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

As the Father sent me into the world, I have sent you into the world. For your sake I sanctified myself, that you too may be truly sanctified.

I have given you the glory that the Father gave me, that you may be one with other believers as the Father and I are one. I want you to be in complete unity to let the world know that the Father sent me and has loved you even as he has loved me.

I want you who have been given me by my Father to be with me where I am,, and to see my glory, the glory the Father has given me because he loved me before the creation of the world. I have made my Father known to you, and will continue to make him known in order that the love he has for me may be in you and that I myself may be in you.
