Set Free

There is now no condemnation for me because I am in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. By the free gift of God’s grace I am put right with him through Christ Jesus, who has set me free. I have freedom in Christ Jesus.

God has made me alive with Christ. He forgave me all my sins, having cancelled the written code, with its regulations, that was against me and that stood opposed to me; he took it away, nailing it to the cross.

And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous to bring me to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit. This is love, not that I loved God but that he loved me and sent his son as an atoning sacrifice for my sins. When I turned to the Lord the veil separating me from God was taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom.

He too shared in our humanity, so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death — that is, the devil — and free me from being held in slavery by the fear of death. He entered heaven itself, now to appear for me in God’s presence. He is able to save me completely because I have come to God through him, and he always lives to intercede for me. Such a high priest meets my need — one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. Jesus suffered to make me holy through his own blood.
