My Hope in God

My Hope in God

I do not put my hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but I put

my hope in God, who richly provides me with everything for my enjoyment. Having been justified by his grace, I have become an heir having the hope of eternal life. I put on hope of salvation as a helmet.

I am to show diligence to the very end, in order to make my hope sure. I hold unswervingly to the hope I profess, for he who promised is faithful. Now faith is being sure of what I hope for and certain of what I do not see.

I prepare my mind for action; I am to be self-controlled; I set my hope fully on the grace to be given to me when Jesus Christ is revealed. Through Jesus I believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so my faith and hope are in God. Because I have this hope in him I purify myself, just as he is pure.

On him I have set my hope that he will continue to deliver me. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given me new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. I rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach me, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures I might have hope. Hope does not disappoint me, because God has poured out his love into my heart by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given me. The God of hope fills me with all joy and peace as I trust in him, so that I may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

If I hope for what I do not yet have, I wait for it patiently. I am joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. If only for this life I have hope in Christ, I am to be pitied more than all men. I pray that the eyes of my heart may be enlightened in order that I may know the hope to which he has called me, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints.

But by faith I eagerly await through the Spirit the righteousness for which I hope. Faith and love spring from the hope that is stored up for me in heaven. I am to continue in my faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. My work is to be produced by faith, my labour prompted by love, and my endurance inspired by hope in my Lord Jesus Christ.

I have put my hope in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, and especially of those who believe. God has chosen to make known to me the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in me, the hope of glory. Since I have such a hope, I am very bold.
