Jesus Requires Baptism

Mark 16:16 (NKJ) "He who believes and is baptised will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned.

Acts 22:16 (NKJ) And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptised, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.'

Mark 1:8 (NKJ) I indeed baptise you with water, but He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit."

Luke 3:16 (NKJ) John answered, saying to all, "I indeed baptise you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

John 3:22 (NKJ) After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the land of Judea, and there He remained with them and baptised.

John 4:1-2 (NKJ) Therefore, when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptising more disciples than John,

2 (though Jesus Himself did not baptise, but His disciples).

Acts 8:36 (NKJ) Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, "See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptised?"

Acts 10:47 (NKJ) "Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptised who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?

1 Peter 3:21 (NKJ)There is also an antitype which now saves us-baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), though the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, baptism the word (baptiso) it first appears in the Jewish Mosaic laws of purification.

Luke 3:16 (NKJ) John answered, saying to all, "I indeed baptise you with water; but One mightier than I is come, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

John's baptism was for repentance, so the Jews might be spiritually prepared, and to recognise and receive the Messiah, it was different from the way Jesus was baptised.

Christian baptism is a union with Christ:

Galatians 3:26-27 (NIV) For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, 27 For as many of you as were baptised into Christ have put on Christ.

Remission of sins:

Acts 2:38 (NKJ) Then Peter said to them, "Repent and let every one of you be baptised, in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

United with Christ in His death, and to a new life in Him:

Romans 6:3-5 (NKJ) Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptised into Christ Jesus were baptised into His death?

4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection.

And becoming a member of the Body of Christ:

1 Corinthians 12:13 (NKJ) For by one Spirit we were all baptised into one body-whether Jew or Greek, whether slaves or free-and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.

The blessings of baptism are received by faith:

Romans 6:8-11 (NIV) Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.

9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.

10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.

11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
