Is “The Urantia Book” a valid addition to Scripture?

Though some may claim otherwise, God did not inspire this book. But God did inspire the Bible: “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (II Tim. 3:16). His Word contains the knowledge necessary for salvation.

The Bible contains the TRUTH. “The Urantia Book” disagrees with Scripture in many critical places. It denies the truth of the creation account. It claims that the tree of the knowledge of good and evil never existed—Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the Tree of Life. It declares that a Jewish priest invented the story of Noah’s Flood during the Babylonian captivity. When speaking of Jesus Christ, it claims that He is the same Person as the archangel Michael (refers to Him as “Christ Michael”). The list of contradictions goes on and on.

Why would the God of truth (Deut. 32:4; Isa. 65:16) inspire a book that contradicts His Word? Of course, He would not. Because God is not the author of confusion (I Cor. 14:33), we can safely say that He did not inspire “The Urantia Book.”

The true author of this book is the “god of this world,” Satan (II Cor. 4:4). This book is one of the many ways in which Satan blinds and deceives mankind and counterfeits God’s awesome truth. (To learn more about the devil’s sway over the earth, read our booklet A World in Captivity.)
