Immanuel Jesus

Isaiah 7:13-14.

"13 And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?

14 Therefore the LORD Himself shall give you a Sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel"

(Isaiah 7:13-14). The All Wise God may state outright a Truth about the identity of the Messiah, but He most likely will speak in such a way that one can only hear by listening very attentively. "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with Mine eye"

(Psalm 32:8). This quest for a Messiah is unfolded in the Hebrew Scriptures with another clue by the prophet Isaiah. The House of David would be given a sign. Not simply that a Son would be born. And, the specialness of the Son would not just be His name, Immanuel, which is God with us. He will not simply be born to a chaste young woman, but He will be born of a woman who has never known a man-- born of a virgin. Now that is a Sign!

"18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as His mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with Child of the Holy Ghost.

19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.

20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

21 And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins.

22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the LORD by the prophet, saying,

23 Behold, a virgin shall be with Child, and shall bring forth a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us"

(Matthew 1:18-23). Specifically, the Messiah would be born of a virgin, and prospectively, He would be God With Us.
