Hell is a Christian Hoax 8
IF NOT HELL, FROM WHAT ARE WE SAVED?
I can't believe how many times I am asked this question. How is it even possible to attend Church for a lifetime and not be taught what it is that Jesus saves us from? Most Christians believe that Jesus came to save us from hell. I reckon from such unscriptural nonsense that if Jesus just got rid of hell itself, then He wouldn't have to save us from ANYTHING. Not true. There are many things from which all people need to be saved, but I assure you that "hell" is not one of them.
Many inform me that, "If Jesus didn't die to save us from hell, then He died in vain." Why don't we just believe the Scriptures? Wouldn't it be a great thing, if we were saved from ourselves, vanity, hatred, prejudice, filthy language, laziness, greed, stupidity, egotism, megalomania, haughtiness, sickness, poverty, fear, pain, suffering, disease, hopelessness, lust, pride, worldliness, selfishness, lasciviousness, materialism, idolatry, addiction, etc.? I am sure that we are all guilty of at least some of these character flaws. There is much in man from which he needs saving, but the heathen's gruesome hell is not one of them.
An artist's conception of the gates of the Christian hell
Is this what Jesus had in mind when He said: "Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am He that lives, and was dead: and, behold, I am alive for evermore ( Gk: 'into the eons of the eons' - the Kingdom Rule in which He rules until He has brought all sin and enemies in subjection) . Amen; and have the keys of hell" ( Gk: 'hades' - the unseen state of the dead) and death" (Rev. 1:17-18)?
Jesus experienced "hades" - the state of the dead in the tomb, and "death" - the cross which was the manner in which His life was terminated. His resurrection ("I am He that lives, and was dead") is the absolute proof that He really does possess "the keys of hades and death."
Nowhere - not once, are we told anywhere in the entirety of the Bible that Jesus came to save us from some Satanic hellhole of eternal torture in fire - AKA the Christian "hell." Here are the two major things that all humanity needs to be saved from - not some, not many; not most; but every single human being.
