Great Joy

I fix my eyes on Jesus, the author and prefecture of my faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Jesus loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, his God, has set him above his companions by anointing him with the oil of joy.

Though I have not seen him, I love him; and even though I do not see him now, I believe in him and am filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy. The Lord is able to keep me from falling and to present me before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy!

I greatly rejoice, though now for a little while I may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that my faith -of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire - may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honour when Jesus Christ is revealed.

And after I have suffered a little while, the God of all grace - who imparts all blessing and favour -who has called me to his own eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will himself complete and make me what I ought to be, establish and ground me securely, and strengthen and settle me. To him be the dominion -power, authority, rule - for ever and ever. Amen - so be it. I welcome the message of the gospel with the joy given to me by the Holy Sprit.
