Foot washing

Foot washing

"An argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest!" Luke 9:46

We shall be prepared to seek the good of others in the largest, truest way — only when we have learned to look upon others as our Lord did.

There was not a poor ruined creature who came into His presence by faith, whom He did receive and love.

There was not one whom He thought it a degradation to serve. When the disciples were quarreling as to which one should take the servant's place and wash the feet of the others, He quietly arose and performed the humble service.

"Jesus rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded." John 13:4-5

"Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet — you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you." John 13:14-15

"The greatest among you will be your servant. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted." Matthew 23:11-12
