Eph 5:3-4 What does "foolish talking" and "jesting" mean here?

Foolish talking is stupid talk, idle talk, or talking foolishly. It is foolish in the sense of the lack of forethought and wisdom - the talk of fools which is foolishness and sin together: Godless, sinful talk. Whoever indulges in it neglects and despises what relates to salvation.

Jesting here refers to coarse jesting, ribaldry - suggestive and immoral wit, obscene and offensive talk.

All such talk is destructive of holy living and must be stopped and repented of if one wants to inherit the kingdom of God (CP 4:22-23, 29; Col 3:8-10).
