Does the Bible support the theory of the existence of extraterrestrial life forms and the validity of UFOs?

The phenomena known as UFOs, or Unidentified Flying Objects, has been the subject of much speculation. The U.S. Air Force’s “Project Blue Book” was an official investigation into these “flying saucers,” conducted from 1947 to late 1969. During this span, this study examined over 12,000 UFO sightings. The vast majority could be explained. However, some 700 had no definite, physical reason for occurring.

Many have theorized reasons for the existence of these phenomena. But no single one is adequate. One of the most popular theories is that UFOs are alien spacecraft, piloted by extraterrestrial beings. While Hollywood and television certainly try to impress this idea upon us, these notions should be dismissed.

There are many books, websites and articles on the subject of UFOs. Your local library would be the best place to find sound, reasonable information. But use judgment in gathering information. Many “conspiracy theorists” have their own agendas, and are trying to push their own wild ideas. Some even cite the Bible as validation of UFO theory, referencing such accounts as II Kings 2:11 and Ezekiel 1:16-18.

But God’s Word nowhere indicates the existence, somewhere else in the universe, of other intelligent physical life forms (human-like or otherwise). In all likelihood, many are fallen spirits, known as demons, playing tricks and hoaxes on the gullible and/or superstitious.
