A Prophet:

Prophet: A person regarded as speaking from divine inspiration in order to reveal the will of God, criticise the present order, or predict future events, such as the end of the world, or the coming of Judgement Day (see millenarianism).

The prophets of the Old Testament of the Bible strove to instil a moral vision into Jewish belief and practice, and later provided Christianity with a prophetic ideal, fulfilled by Jesus Christ.

The 'gift of prophecy' continues to be a feature of charismatic Christian movements, and 'inspired utterances' are also characteristic of Quakerism.

In Islam, the term Prophet refers to Muhammad, who, through the angel Gabriel, received and revealed the Koran, the divine word of Allah. Muhammad is regarded as the last of a long line of prophets, who include Jesus Christ.

Baha' is believe that the religion's founder Baha'Allah is a further successor to this line of prophets.
