7:54 What is meant by "they gnashed on him with their teeth"?
The Jewish leaders had such a fit of violent rage and anger against Stephen for accusing them of not keeping the law and having murdered Jesus, that they ground their teeth at him (CP V51-53).
To gnash the teeth means to grind or crunch them together to make a grating sound. In Bible times it applied to mad dogs and lions.
