3:18-20 What do we understand from what Paul says here?
Paul is teaching against sectarianism in the church here - believers are not to seek the security of partisan favour in men, for all things belong to them in Christ (CP V21-23).
The idea here is that all believers share equally in all the provisions of God and God will cause all things to work together for their good (CP Ro 8:28-30 with 2Cor 4:15-18).
In the light of this it is ludicrous for Christians to make their boast in men. This takes us back to Chapter 1 where Paul had to admonish the believers who made up the church in Corinth for creating factions around the apostles (CP 1Cor 1:10-15 with 3:1-9).
