3:10 What is John referring to here?

Here John warns of Divine judgment in the earth with the coming of Christ. Christ’s coming would test all men.

Those who do not bear fruit for God’s Eternal Kingdom will be cast into Hell, just as a tree that does not bear fruit is cut down and cast into the fire to be burnt up.

This points to the Great White Throne Judgment at the end of Christ’s Millennial – one thousand years – reign, when the ungodly will all be judged and cast into the Lake of Fire (cp Mt 3:8, 12, 13:24-30, 36-43, 47-50 with Rev 20:11-15).
