39 God chooses weak, despised instruments.

But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. (I Corinthians 1:27-29)

The latter-rain revival will not consist of "big preachers." God will choose those who are not esteemed. No flesh will be allowed to glory in the Presence of the Lord. It is time for all the members of the Body of Christ to receive their ministries and to move in the Spirit in the name of the Lord.

When we pray for revival we often miss God’s answer. God asks, "What is that in your hand? What do you have at home?" The first step in our part in the last-day testimony well may be our reconciliation to our wife and children. If we cannot make a success of the Gospel at home it is impossible for us to take part in the worldwide witness of God. (There are instances when the saint cannot mend the situation in his home, and God knows when such is the case. God will show us what to do if we will seek His counsel.)

Sometimes we are looking for large numbers of people when God is ready to work in an extraordinary manner through two or three.

The latter-day witness will be of God. The types reveal that one of its prominent features will be the glorifying of God rather than human beings. The episode of Gideon and his army certainly is one of the major types of the coming of Christ and the Day of the Lord. The number of men in Gideon’s army was diminished from 32,000 to 300 so Israel could not say, "Mine own hand hath saved me" (Judges 7:2).

The testimony of the two witnesses will be "not by might nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts" (Zechariah 4:6).

The little book was "open." The meaning of the Scriptures is becoming increasingly clear in our day. For many hundreds of years the Scriptures have been sealed, particularly regarding the "mystery" of the Gospel, which is Christ in us. Even today the Christian churches appear to be unaware that the issue of redemption is what is taking place in the saints. In most instances the emphasis is being placed on external, undemanding events such as going to Heaven or ascending to meet the Lord.

The scriptural emphasis is not on these external events, it is on the all-important transformation of the saints, the forming of Christ in us. This is the creating of the eternal Temple of God, which is one of the themes of the Scriptures. The emphasis on external, undemanding events is misplaced. It is not fruitful.

Those who are hearing from the Lord today are stressing the building of the Body of Christ. All else hinges on the perfecting of the Body of Christ (Ephesians 4:13).

The "book" has been sealed until the closing days of this age. It is being opened in our time and we are beginning to understand the mystery of the Gospel. It is Christ in us—the appearing of Christ not only with, but also in, His saints. This is the hope of the glory to come. This is the Kingdom of God, the central truth of the Scriptures. All else contributes to this central Divine purpose.

And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed: (Isaiah 29:11)

Theologians have struggled to unlock the meaning of the Book of Revelation. The result has been confusion among the believers. Only the Holy Spirit can interpret the Scriptures. It is not in the ability of the human mind or spirit to do so.

But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. (Daniel 12:4)
