Paul's ministry in Asia was so powerful - multitudes were being saved and a great spiritual awakening was taking place - that it caused a recession among the idol-makers.
Demetrius and the other silver-smiths were so angry they undoubtedly would have killed Paul had they been able to lay hold of him (CP V28-31).
