There is always a sacredness about prayer

"Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed ." Mark 1:35

"Then Jesus went with His disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and He said to them: Sit here while I go over there and pray ." Matthew 26:36

There is always a sacredness about prayer . We instantly withdraw, if unawares we suddenly come upon one engaged in prayer. We are awed into reverence when we see anyone, however humble, bowing in prayer.

But the sight of Christ at prayer touches us with still deeper awe. We uncover our heads, and take off our shoes, and stand afar off in reverent hush while He bows before His Father and communes with Him. Yet no figure is more familiar in the Gospels, than the Master at prayer.

"Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed." Luke 5:16
