Deliver Us From This Present Evil World

Jesus Christ "gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world" (Galatians 1:4). He "might" do it-- if we will give Him the opportunity to do it."For by Grace are ye saved through Faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the Gift of God" (Ephesians 2:8) and it is "according to the Will of God and our Father" (Galatians 1:4). The LORD will not deliver you against your will, because it is "according to your Faith be it unto you" (Matthew 9:29). You can only receive the Free Gift of Deliverance from any and ALL kinds of sin-- "through Faith".

  • How do you get Faith? "Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God" (Romans 10:17).
  • God gives Faith to those who ask Him for it. "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive" (Matthew 21:22).
  • It is pure pleasure for the believer to ask in Faith, because the answer is sure to come. "Hitherto have ye asked nothing in My Name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your Joy may be full" (John 16:24).
  • Only a clean heart can ask in Faith. "Whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His Commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight" (1John 3:22). "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts" (James 4:3).

Sin is bondage. "But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?" (Galatians 4:9). To be overcome by sin, is to be held in the tight grip of the power that is greater than yourself. "For ye suffer, if a man bring you into bondage, if a man devour you, if a man take of you, if a man exalt himself, if a man smite you on the face" (2Corinthians 11:20). The greatest suffering comes from the greatest bondage, and the greatest healing comes from the greatest Deliverance. "27 There met {Jesus} out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs. 28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before Him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with Thee, Jesus, Thou Son of God Most High? I beseech Thee, torment me not. 29 (For [Jesus] had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the Devil into the wilderness.) 30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him" (Luke 8:27-30). There is no being more cruel than Satan. "The tender mercies of the wicked are cruel" (Proverbs 12:10). And there is no Deliverer Mightier or more Compassionate than the LORD Jesus. "His Compassions fail not" (Lamentations 3:22). "35 Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind" (Luke 8:35).

The battle is always Good over evil. "There is none Good but One, that is, God" (Mark 10:18). "37 He that soweth the Good Seed is the Son Of Man; 38 the field is the world; the Good Seed are the children of the Kingdom; but the tares are the children of the Wicked One; 39 the enemy that sowed them is the Devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. 40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. 41 The Son Of Man shall send forth His angels, and they shall gather out of His Kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; 42 and shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43Then shall the Righteous shine forth as the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear" (Matthew 13:37-43). True Christians are the "Good Seed" that the LORD has planted, and watered, and tended as a Good Husbandman (i.e., Gardener). "[Jesus] answered and said, Every plant, which My Heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up" (Matthew 15:13). "I am the True Vine, and My Father is the Husbandman" (John 15:1).

"Christ, Who is the Image of God" (2Corinthians 4:4), delivers "the Good Seed" who are "partakers of Christ's Sufferings; that, when His Glory shall be revealed, [they] may be glad also with Exceeding Joy" (1Peter 4:13). The saints, like Christ, "must through much tribulation enter into the Kingdom of God" (Acts 14:22). "Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the Same Mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin" (1Peter 4:1). "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, The Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God" (1Peter 3:18). Here's a Promise: those that "follow after Righteousness... that seek the LORD" (Isaiah 51:1), these "shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the Glorious Liberty of the children of God" (Romans 8:21). They "look unto the Rock whence [they] are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence [they were] digged" (Isaiah 51:1).

  • (Galatians 5:1) "Stand fast therefore in the Liberty wherewith Christ hath made us Free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."
  • (Romans 6:23) "For the wages of sin is Death; but the Gift of God is Eternal Life through Jesus Christ our LORD."
  • (2Corinthians 9:15) "Thanks be unto God for His Unspeakable Gift."

As soldiers in the Army of the Eternal God, be prepared for the battle that the Captain of your Salvation has already delivered unto you. "For it became Him, for Whom are all things, and by Whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto Glory, to make the Captain of their Salvation Perfect through sufferings" (Hebrews 2:10).
"10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the LORD, and in the Power of His Might. 11 Put on the Whole Armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the Devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the Whole Armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with Truth, and having on the Breastplate of Righteousness; 15 and your feet shod with the Preparation of the Gospel of Peace; 16 above all, taking the Shield of Faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench ALL the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the Helmet of Salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit,
which is the Word of God"
(Ephesians 6:10-17).
"1 In Thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion. 2 Deliver me in Thy Righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline Thine ear unto me, and save me. 3 Be Thou my Strong Habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: Thou hast given Commandment to save me; for Thou art my Rock and my Fortress.

4 Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man. 5 For Thou art my Hope, O LORD GOD: Thou art my Trust from my youth. 6 By Thee have I been holden up from the womb: Thou art He that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise shall be continually of Thee.

7 I am as a wonder unto many; but Thou art my Strong Refuge. 8 Let my mouth be filled with Thy Praise and with Thy Honour all the day... 14 But I will hope continually, and will yet praise Thee more and more... 16 I will go in the Strength of the LORD GOD: I will make mention of Thy Righteousness, even of Thine only...

19 Thy Righteousness also, O God, is very High, Who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto Thee! 20 Thou, which hast showed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the Earth. 21 Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.

22 I will also praise Thee with the psaltery, even Thy Truth, O my God: unto Thee will I sing with the harp, O Thou Holy One of Israel. 23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto Thee; and my soul, which Thou hast Redeemed"
(Psalm 71:1-8,14,16,19-23).
