'Can these bones live?

Can these bones live?

" Ezekiel 37:3

A skillful gardener passing along a street, saw a root which had been thrown out of a garden. It seemed worthless. It had even been in the fire and was blackened and burnt.

But the gardener thought there might yet be a little life in it, and he saw a vision of the beautiful vine which might yet spring from this brand plucked from the burning.

So he took it with him and planted it — and it grew; then he tended it with gentle care, and in due time a majestic vine, covered in the autumn with purple grapes, wreathed its festoons about the doors and windows of his house.

So it is that the Lord in His gentleness deals with sinners. There may seem not a spark of anything noble remaining in them, not a possibility of anything beautiful or good.

But He takes them up and pours His love upon them — and they grow into celestial beauty, and at length appear in Heaven among the glorified. No human life is hopelessly lost, when under the transforming love of God.
