1Chr 9:35-22:1 THE REIGN OF DAVID

End of the line of Saul (1Chr 9:35-10:14)

Saul is introduced by listing his genealogy once again (1Chr 9:35-44).

However, the Chronicler passes over the reign of Saul in silence, for his concern is with the dynasty of David. Saul’s death alone is recounted, since that was the means of bringing in the reign of David.

It was also God’s judgment on Saul for his unfaithfulness and disobedience (1Chr 10:1-14; see notes on 1 Sam 31:1-13).
