Back to By David C. Pack

This matter has been speculated on and debated by Bible scholars for centuries. The most widely held belief is that the book was written by the apostle Paul, in approximately A.D. 61-62.

Although it does not include Paul’s typical greeting, the book’s subject matter and tone strongly support this view.

It is possible that Timothy transcribed the letter from Paul and took it to the congregation at Jerusalem (see Heb. 13:23). Also, it is possible that it was translated from Hebrew to Greek by the apostle Luke.
