This term is found in some Bible margins and is an abbreviated form of the Latin word circa, simply meaning “approximately” or “about.” It indicates that dates or figures cited are not exact, but rather estimations based on other available information.
In some literature, the abbreviation “ca.” or “c.” is used in place of this word.
