In this age we are experiencing a great rise in the number of false religions throughout the world. Satan aware that his time is growing shorter in the light of the soon return of Jesus Christ to the earth, has unleashed his greatest campaign to deceive men and blind them to the true Gospel message.

False religions have always been with us and must continually be exposed. One could spend hours discussing all the false teachings of some religions, but I feel that all religions either stand or fall on the Gospel message they present. A religion is either a true one that has a true gospel at its core and leads its followers into the kingdom of heaven or they have a false gospel message and continue to lead men and women into the fires of hell.

The following is a listing of the major false religions of our day. I have presented their false gospel message with their own source reference. I purposely have planned for this file to be brief because if people are made aware of the false gospel message than all the other lies merely confirm the core lie...the gospel.

HISTORY

First the True Gospel as presented in the Scriptures....

Benedictus "Benny" Hinn was born on December 3, 1952 in Israel. His family emigrated to Toronto, Canada shortly after 1967 where he attended Georges Vanier Secondary School. Hinn writes, "During my senior year at Georges Vanier, for the second time in my life I had an encounter with the Lord." #1 School records indicate, that he was an undergraduate in 1972 and dropped out before graduation.

Hinn has given contradictory accounts of his conversion. In a devotional published by the Praise the Lord (PTL) network in 1981, he states, "I got saved in Israel in 1968." #2 In a message delivered in St. Louis in 1983, however, he said, "...it was in Canada that I was born again."#3 In Good Morning Holy Spirit, Hinn relates that he was saved not in 1968 but in February of 1972. #4

Gospel According to the Bible All men and women are sinners and condemned to the fire of torment for their punishment. However, salvation from sin is available to all if they will Repent of their known sins, Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and Submit to His Lordship. There is no merit for any work involved, salvation is strictly by grace through faith and not by any works. The ability to Repent, Believe and Submit is the direct result of the gift of Faith from God the Father and not the result of any works (Ephesians 2:8-9).

The call to ministry came while attending a Kathryn Khulman crusade. According to Hinn, miracles of healing began to take place all over the auditorium. "I went back to Canada and thought about it. I'm going to try this,' I said.'" #5

Though Hinn credits numerous people influencing him in his early ministry, none has had a greater impact on him than has Kathryn Khulman (1907-76). Khulman is arguably the world's most widely recognized female faith healer #6 and was known for her practice of "slaying in the Spirit" and her use of "word of knowledge," both of which Hinn uses extensively. Their similarities in both attire and technique are striking. Khulman was known for her white dress, Hinn for his white suit. He has copied and perfected many of her mannerisms and phraseology. Though never having met Mrs. Khulman in person, he has stated that she has appeared to him from beyond the grave to give him encouragement and ministerial direction. #7 Hinn has also been an admirer of Dr. Oral Roberts and the two share a close friendship.

Repenting from our sins is the conscious act of turning away from a life of sin and yielding total control to Jesus Christ, being willing to do all that He may command us through His Word. Also one must be aware that the very first command Jesus gives to all new believers is to submit to "water baptism." If a person claims that they are ready to become a Christian but will not yield to public baptism in a local Church at the next available opportunity, then they are "not ready to accept Christ" for they are not willing to obey His very first command.
+

Hinn admits no formal biblical training, but claims the Holy Spirit was his biblical instructor. On one occasion of enjoying intense fellowship with and instruction from the Holy Spirit, he was called to supper. As he was about to leave, Hinn claims "[I] felt someone take my hand and say, Five more minutes. Just five more minutes.' The Holy Spirit longed for my fellowship." #8 At the time, his anointing was supposedly so strong that others could not even stand up in his presence. #9

+

In his early twenties, Hinn moved to Florida and married the daughter of a local pastor. In 1983 he founded a church, the Orlando Christian Center in Orlando, Florida. He was becoming a sought after speaker at venues nationwide and began conducting his miracle crusades in the late 1980's. His first nationally televised "Miracle Crusade" was held in Flint, MI in 1989. His television program, This Is Your Day, began airing in 1990. On his program, Hinn showed video clips of people claiming to have been physically healed at his crusades. Hinn would display discarded crutches and empty wheelchairs on the platform. His fame spread and he was soon conducting regular miracle crusades in huge venues around the world.

Many of Hinn's claims, teachings, and practices have come under severe scrutiny. He has claimed that he saw a man turn into a snake before his own eyes, that he has video of a man who was raised from the dead, and that he once healed nearly everyone in a hospital. #11 He claims to have seen Jesus with his own eyes, has video of Jesus walking around at one of his meetings as well as video of Jesus' face appearing on the wall of his church. All of these claims have either been proven false, or Hinn has retracted. #12

"I want to tell them and tell all the great men of the earth, that the Latter-day Saints (Mormons) are to be their redeemer. . .Believe in God, believe in Jesus, and believe in Joseph (Smith) his prophet, and Brigham (Young) his successor, and I add, If you will believe in your hearts and confess with your mouth Jesus is the Christ, that Joseph (Smith) was a prophet, and that Brigham (Young) is his successor, you shall be saved in the kingdom of God. No man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial Kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith...I cannot go there without his consent. . .he reigns there as supreme. . ." SUMMARY
+

+
The False Mormon Gospel - in order to enter into Salvation one must "prior to salvation:"
+

+
1. Believe in Jesus Christ
+

+
2. Believe in Joseph Smith
+

+
3. Believe in Brigham Young
+

+
4. Confess Jesus is the Christ
+

+
5. Confess Joseph Smith was the prophet
+

+
6. Confess Brigham Young was Smith's Successor
+

+
7. Repent
+

+
8. Be Baptized by Immersion (before salvation)
+

+
9. Receive the Holy Spirit by the "laying on of hands."
+

+
Then and only then will you receive salvation! All nine steps must be completed prior to salvation which are the "works" of the Mormon faith necessary for salvation.
+

+
The True Gospel of the Bible says.... Salvation comes by faith and faith alone. All that is necessary to receive total salvation is faith in Jesus which is a "gift" of God. A faith not generated within ourselves. Baptism is to occur after salvation to providean outward expression of what has already taken place inside the heart. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Though Hinn credits numerous people influencing him in his early ministry, none has had a greater impact on him than has Kathryn Khulman (1907-76). Pin.pngDo you have a ministry or a business

Do you have a called of God ministry where your whole purpose is to "feed the sheep", and God supplies your needs, or do you have books, tapes, videos, etc. that you SELL for a "donation", or just outright SELL, and your buyers supply your needs?

There is nothing wrong with being in business and selling things. However, if you are a church or any kind of "ministry", you may want to check your motive for how you are conducting the work of the Lord.

Remember the money changers in the temple where JESUS turned over the tables and threw them out. They were selling things in the "CHURCH". (God made it quite clear to us that we were not to charge for anything, that HE was our source.)

You Can Prove the Bible’s Authority

Many accept the Bible’s divine authority on faith, thinking it cannot be proven. Is what is often called the Book of books the Word of God? Or is it mere superstition—an uninspired work of men?

What role if any did the teachings of the Qur'an play in the 9/11 attacks? What does Islam really teach? What about Jihad? Should Christians try to befriend our Muslim neighbors and share the gospel?
