"My heart says of you, 'Seek his face!' Your face, Lord, I will seek" (Psalm 27:8).

Seeking God is an active step we take to "search" God out for a special answer or deeper experience with the Lord. This attitude of seeking is something God draws out from us, and he gives us many promises to encourage us to seek His face (Proverbs 28:5; Psalm 69:32; 70:4; 119:45; Lamentations 3:25). There are three practical steps to seeking the Lord:

1. Separate yourself

"After [Jesus] had dismissed the, he went up into the hills by himself to pray" (Matthew 14:23).

2. Prepare your heart

"Sow for yourselves righteousness... break up your unploughed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord" (Hosea 10:12).

3Set your mind on the Lord

"I seek you with all my heart.. I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways" (Psalm 119:10,15).

Seeking involves an act of separation - a separation physically, spiritually and mentally. The rewards of seeking God are great:

"... those who seek the Lord lack no good thing" (Psalm 34:10).
