  How carefully is the human eye protected! It is surrounded by bony walls, overhung by a well-thatched brow, and guarded by the ever-vigilant lid. <br>

  And how tenderly does the parent bird shelter her young under her downy wings! <br>
  <br>
"Keep me," O Lord, "as the apple of the eye—hide me under the shadow of Your wings." My danger from foes within and without is great—but if You keep me, I shall be well protected. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so surround me henceforth and for evermore. <br>
  <br>
  Keep me not only in safety, but also in the enjoyment of Your comforting mercy. <br>
  Draw me close to Your side; <br>
  reveal Your love to me; <br>
  allow me to realize Your Fatherly care; and <br>
  as a tender mother comforts her child, so may You comfort me. Cover me with Your feathers, and hide me under the shadow of Your wings. "Because You have been my help—therefore under the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice." <br>
