| |
− | <p>In the beginning, there was God.
| |
− | God is a Family and is made up of two Beings. One is God the Father and the other is the Word. God had a plan to reproduce Himself. Through much design, His plan began with the creation of angels, heaven and earth. The earth was beautiful and full of life.

− | and it became a very dark, dead
| |
− | place, covered in water.
| |
− | God then decided to create
| |
− | human beings. If they obeyed Him,
| |
− | these beings would eventually be
| |
− | born into the God Family. Human
| |
− | beings needed a home, so God
| |
− | recreated the earth.
| |
− | Re-creation of Earth
| |
− | God created the earth by telling the
| |
− | Word what should be done. The
| |
− | Word obeyed and completed His
| |
− | work through the power of God’s
| |
− | Holy Spirit.
| |
− | The earth was covered with thick
| |
− | clouds. On the first day of creation
| |
− | God caused the dark clouds to go
| |
− | away. Once again, the earth felt the
| |
− | warm sunshine after a long time
| |
− | without it. This also caused night to
| |
− | be dark and daytime to be bright.
| |
− | Look down at your chest. What
| |
− | is it doing? As it moves up and
| |
− | down, you are breathing air. On the
| |
− | second day, God created the air that
| |
− | is needed for life. This air was clean
| |
− | and had many big white clouds. The
| |
− | air covered the earth like a giant
| |
− | bubble.

| |
− | The next step in God’s creation
| |
− | was to make land. On the
| |
− | third day, God separated the dry
| |
− | land from the water. He called
| |
− | the land Earth and the water
| |
− | became the oceans, lakes and
| |
− | rivers. But this dry land was
| |
− | empty. So God created grasses,
| |
− | plants and trees to cover the
| |
− | earth.
| |
− | On the fourth day, God let the
| |
− | sun, moon and stars shine bright.
| |
− | He did this by removing the last
| |
− | of the dark clouds, gases and
| |
− | dust. The moon and stars were
| |
− | for night and the sun was for
| |
− | day.
| |
− | On the fifth day, God filled
| |
− | the oceans with life. Fish,
| |
− | sharks, whales and other sea
| |
− | creatures were created. God also
| |
− | filled the sky with every flying
| |
− | creature. On this day, God created
| |
− | all the birds that you see.
| |
− | God blessed these animals.
| |
− | This allowed both the water and
| |
− | air animals to multiply and fill
| |
− | all the earth.
| |
− | The dry land still had no animals.
| |
− | On the sixth day, God
| |
− | filled the earth with every creature.
| |
− | He created lions, bears,
| |
− | squirrels, horses, and cows. He

| |
− | also created reptiles
| |
− | like snakes
| |
− | and lizards. The
| |
− | land was filled
| |
− | with all kinds of
| |
− | animals.
| |
− | On the sixth
| |
− | day, God also created
| |
− | man from the
| |
− | dust of the
| |
− | ground. God
| |
− | made man in the
| |
− | same form as
| |
− | Himself. Humans
| |
− | have eyes and ears—
| |
− | and so does God! God
| |
− | put men on a level
| |
− | greater than all the animals
| |
− | in the sea, land or
| |
− | air. Man was in charge
| |
− | of all of these animals.
| |
− | The first man was
| |
− | Adam.
| |
− | God made a special
| |
− | place for Adam to live.
| |
− | This place was the
| |
− | beautiful Garden of
| |
− | Eden. God gave Adam
| |
− | the job of naming all of
| |
− | the creatures on earth.
| |
− | Adam obeyed and listened
| |
− | to his Creator. He
| |
− | named all the birds, all

| |
− | the land animals and all the fish in
| |
− | the sea.
| |
− | Yet Adam was lonely. He was created
| |
− | on a higher level than all the animals.
| |
− | He wanted company. God saw
| |
− | that Adam was
| |
− | alone and He
| |
− | knew what Adam
| |
− | needed. God
| |
− | caused Adam to
| |
− | fall into a deep
| |
− | sleep. He then
| |
− | took a rib from
| |
− | Adam and created
| |
− | a woman from it.
| |
− | When Adam
| |
− | awoke, God gave
| |
− | this woman to
| |
− | him. He was very
| |
− | happy to see a
| |
− | friend and a mate.
| |
− | Her name was
| |
− | Eve.
| |
− | God also
| |
− | blessed Adam and
| |
− | Eve. He told them
| |
− | to start a family
| |
− | by having children.
| |
− | In time, He
| |
− | wanted their children
| |
− | to fill the
| |
− | earth. God put
| |
− | man in charge of
| |
− | all the creatures of the earth and all
| |
− | the fruit of the trees and plants.
| |
− | God looked at all that He had
| |
− | made. He saw the sun, moon, stars,
| |
− | air, land, sea, fish, birds and animals.
| |
− | He also saw the first man and
| |
− | woman. And He said, “All I have
| |
− | created is very good.”
| |
− | The earth was complete. But
| |
− | God was not done with creating.
| |
− | The Sabbath
| |
− | On the seventh day, God created
| |
− | something very special. After six
| |
− | days of hard work, God created a
| |
− | day of rest and called it the Sabbath.
| |
− | He rested on this day and He commanded
| |
− | man to also rest on this day.
| |
− | God made this a law: Man is to
| |
− | work six days a week, but on the last
| |
− | day of the week, man must rest. God
| |
− | set the seventh day as the Sabbath
| |
− | forever. That is why we keep the
| |
− | Sabbath today.
| |
− | God created this day because
| |
− | He knows what is best for man. He
| |
− | knows man must take time to rest,
| |
− | to listen to God and to learn from
| |
− | Him. Every Sabbath, God wants us
| |
− | to learn more of His laws and way
| |
− | of life. God taught Adam and Eve
| |
− | on this day.
| |
− | Adam and Eve lived in the beautiful
| |
− | Garden of Eden. There were
| |
− | two unusual trees in the garden. One
| |
− | tree was called the Tree of Life. God
| |
− | told Adam and Eve that they could
| |
− | eat the fruit from that tree anytime.
| |
− | And if they ate from this tree, they
| |
− | would live forever.
| |
− | God also planted another tree, the
| |
− | tree of the knowledge of good and
| |
− | evil. God told Adam and Eve that
| |

− | 7 CHILDREN’S BIBLE LESSON
| |
− | they could not eat of this tree. If
| |
− | they ate its fruit, they would die.
| |
− | God was serious. He knew what
| |
− | was best for Adam and Eve. He
| |
− | loved them and He gave them a
| |
− | choice.
| |
− | In the Garden of Eden, there was
| |
− | another being. This being was once
| |
− | a great angel, but he became evil.
| |
− | He hated God’s laws and His way.
| |
− | His name was Satan, and in the
| |
− | Garden, he appeared in the form of
| |
− | a serpent.
| |
− | One day, Satan came to Eve. He
| |
− | asked her if there was any tree that
| |
− | she could not eat from. She replied
| |
− | that she could not eat of the tree of
| |
− | the knowledge of good and evil.
| |
− | Because Satan hated God, he tried
| |
− | to get Eve to not listen to God’s loving
| |
− | commandment.
| |
− | Eve ignored what
| |
− | God had taught her.
| |
− | She disobeyed God
| |
− | and chose to listen
| |
− | to Satan. Eve ate the
| |
− | fruit of the wrong
| |
− | tree. She made a
| |
− | very big mistake.
| |
− | She asked Adam to
| |
− | eat of the same tree.
| |
− | He disobeyed God
| |
− | and ate of the tree of
| |
− | knowledge, too.
| |
− | This was a big
| |
− | event for man. God
| |
− | had taught Adam
| |
− | and Eve His laws but
| |
− | they disobeyed. By
| |
− | eating this fruit, they
| |
− | decided to choose
| |
− | for themselves what
| |
− | is right and what is
| |
− | wrong. When we disobey,
| |
− | there is certain
| |
− | punishment we must
| |
− | face.
| |
− | Soon after, God
| |
− | was walking in the
| |
− | Garden looking for
| |
− | Adam and Eve.
| |
− | Adam and Eve were
| |
− | very afraid because
| |
− | they knew they had
| |
− | broken God’s law.
| |
− | They were hiding
| |
− | from God.
| |
− | God asked, “Have
| |
− | you eaten of the tree of the knowledge
| |
− | of good and evil?” Adam
| |
− | quickly said it was Eve who made
| |
− | him do it. Eve said it was Satan who
| |
− | made her do it.
| |
− | This made God very upset. He
| |
− | punished Adam and Eve. He had no
| |
− | other choice. God’s law is a wonderful
| |
− | law, but when we disobey
| |
− | God, it is called sin. Sin brings punishment.
| |
− | God made Adam and Eve leave
| |
− | the Garden of Eden because they
| |
− | sinned. He also put two great angels
| |
− | at the entrance to the garden so man
| |
− | could never enter. Adam and Eve
| |
− | were forced to build a family, work
| |
− | and live in a hard land.
| |
− | Cain and Abel
| |
− | Adam and Eve had two sons. One
| |
− | was named Cain and the other Abel.
| |
− | Cain grew up and became a farmer.
| |
− | He grew many vegetables and
| |
− | fruits. Abel grew up and became a
| |
− | shepherd. He looked after sheep.
| |
− | Both Cain and Abel were commanded
| |
− | to give an offering to God.
| |
− | Abel gave his best lamb, which God
| |
− | liked very much. Cain gave an
| |
− | offering of fruit and vegetables. But
| |
− | God did not like this offering
| |
− | because Cain’s attitude was bad.
| |
− | Cain was very jealous of his
| |
− | brother and became very angry with
| |
− | him.

| |
− | One day in the field, Cain was
| |
− | alone with his brother Abel. Because
| |
− | he was angry and full of hate, he
| |
− | killed Abel. Cain saw the horrible
| |
− | thing he did and he tried to hide.
| |
− | God came and asked, “Where is
| |
− | your brother Abel?” Cain did not
| |
− | answer correctly. God punished
| |
− | Cain for his great sin. Cain moved
| |
− | far away from the rest of his family.
| |
− | During this time, Adam and Eve
| |
− | began to have more children and the
| |
− | earth slowly filled with human
| |
− | beings.
