Discussion

Our studies of satan bring us to another frightening thought…demon possession. Is there such a possibility and how can we recognize the symptoms of someone who is so possessed?

Yes, the Bible identifies people who have become demon possessed. In each instance the six symptoms of being possessed are the same.

The first symptom is alienation... A demon possessed person alienates himself from any meaningful relationship with others.

The second symptom is an unacceptable behavior pattern... A demon possessed person engages in behavior that is regarded as offensive, immoral, illegal, dangerous, threatening and/or vicious.

A third symptom is an irrational attitude... A demon possessed person cannot be reasoned with…having an illogical, inconsistent and brute-like thought process.

The fourth symptom is hopelessness... The demon possessed person has a fatalistic outlook… seeing no hope for themselves or anyone else…concluding that there is no way out.

A fifth symptom is a private attitude that goes with alienation... The demon possessed person is consumed with privacy…and the fear of revealing his or her secret feelings.

The sixth, and final symptom is religious beliefs... Interestingly, the demon possessed person has deep-seated religious convictions …although confused and erroneous.

These are the six symptoms of a demon possessed person. They are identical to those exhibited by persons who are diagnosed by mental health professionals as possessing an "anti-social behavior" (sociopath or psychopath).
