John was filled with, but not baptized in, the Holy Spirit.
The baptism in the Spirit was not given until the day of Pentecost (cp Joel 2:28-29; Lk 24:49; Jn 7:37-39; Ac 1:1-8; 2:1-4, 16-18).
Jesus baptizes believers in the Holy Spirit (cp Mt 3:11; Mk 1:8).
