"I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear: but
now my eye sees You. Therefore I abhor myself,
and repent in dust and ashes." Job 42:5-6
Those who see God in the clearest light, abhor
themselves in the deepest humility. If the Lord had
effectually opened your eyes by a discovery of your
state by nature, and the course of your life under
the influence of continual temptations and corruptions
—how would your pride fall.
