1:1 What is the "former treatise" to which Luke refers and who is Theophilus?
The former treatise Luke refers to here (KJV) is his account of the gospel which he also addressed to Theophilus (CP Lu 1:3-4).
This book of the Acts of the Apostles continues the record Luke started in his gospel. It is generally supposed that Theophilus was a Roman official (see also comments on Lu 1:3-4).
