"The lame walk." Matthew 11:5

When the Spirit begins a work of grace upon the heart, God's people are made sensible that they are in a lame state—that they are crippled, paralytic, bedridden—unable to lift up a leg or a finger.

Man is dead in sin—his faculties are all crippled—he is utterly helpless in the things of God.
