Restrained behaviour (So 8:1-4)
A brief poem addressed by the girl to her lover displays the frustration that the two felt in not being able to show their love to each other openly.
The girl comments that if they were brother and sister they would at least be able to kiss in public (So 8:1-3).
But fitting expressions of love between the two will come in their own good time. They do not need anyone to arouse them (So 8:4).
