Jesus, the Son of Man, had to be lifted up on the cross so that I may have eternal life by believing in him. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, so that through believing in him I should not perish but have eternal life.

Because of his great love for me, God, who is rich in mercy, made me alive with Christ even when I was dead in transgressions — it is by grace I have been saved.

And I also was included in Christ when I heard the word of truth, the gospel of my salvation. Having believed, I was marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing my inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession to the praise of his glory.

Therefore, since I have been justified (made totally acceptable and righteous in God’s sight) through faith, I have peace with God through my Lord Jesus Christ to whom I have gained access by faith into this grace in which I now stand. In him I have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of my sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on me with all wisdom and understanding.

Because I believe that Jesus is the Christ I am born of God. Though I have not seen him I love him; and even though I do not see him now, I believe in him and am filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for I am receiving the goal of my faith, the salvation of my soul.
