Christianity is founded upon the life and teaching of Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God. He became man without ceasing to be God. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin so that He could reveal God and redeem sinful humanity.
He identified with humanity in every aspect of life from birth to death. It was necessary for Him to be both human and divine so that he might be the mediator between God and humanity and reconcile humankind to God.
The Bible, which contains the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God.
A primary teaching of Christianity is that the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ makes it possible for those who believe in Jesus to have forgiveness of sin and eternal life. The resurrection of Jesus Christ was a victory over sin and death. Those who believe in Him share in His triumph over sin and death.
Jesus calls each person to repent of their sins. He freely gives healing to those hurting, hope to those suffering, deliverance to those in bondage, strength for those who are weak. He denies no one. Jesus desires a personal relationship with every person willing to call upon His name.
A Christian is a person who believes in Jesus, someone who follows Christ. Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, the Lord of all, the Saviour of humankind.
Christianity began in the first century of the modern era. The Christian church was established upon the teaching, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The church is made up of those who follow Jesus. It is the body of Christ.
Christianity focuses on the life and teaching of Jesus Christ. Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." (John 14:6) Love and forgiveness are central themes to the Christian life. Jesus said "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.'
This is the greatest and foremost commandment. The second is like it, 'You shall love your neighbour as yourself.'" (Matthew 22:37-39)
Jesus Christ sets Christianity apart from all other world religions. Christianity is oriented toward the actual saving work of a single person-Jesus Christ.
Other religions are oriented mainly toward teachings and practices. Christianity's foundation is the historical proof that Jesus lived, died on the cross, and rose from the dead. No other religious founder has dared considered making such a claim.
Christianity regards humanity in its sinful condition to be spiritually dead. God's holiness is absolute. He has zero tolerance for sin., but through Christ's sacrificial death on the cross God's holiness and justice are satisfied. Salvation is based entirely on the free grace of God, not at all on the individual's merit or good deeds. There is complete assurance of salvation because it is a freely-given gift from God, who is true, faithful, and unchanging. God is concerned with immediate and ultimate issues in individual lives. He desires to provide for daily needs as well as eternal needs. God is personal and knowable. He has made Himself known to humanity through His Son, Jesus Christ, and through the Bible.
Think About:
Jesus Christ is the only way to a saving relationship with God. The Bible says humanity is created in the image of God. Each person is stained by sin. Sin is, at the root, independence and rebellion against God. The consequence of sin is that it separates humanity from God. A person separated from God is spiritually dead. The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ provides salvation for all who call upon His name. Salvation is a free gift. It cannot be earned. Jesus gives eternal life to all who believe in Him.
God has made Himself known through His Son. He denies no one who calls upon the name of Jesus Christ. He desires a personal relationship with you.
He cares about every detail of your life. Do you long for unconditional and unchanging love?
God says, "I have loved you with an everlasting love." (Jeremiah 31:3) Do you lack peace because you fear failure?
Jesus says, "Come unto Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
Are you always searching for your significance and purpose in life? "For I know the plans I have for you," declares God, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11) How to begin your new relationship with Christ
