<p>Anxiety, or worry—is very injurious; it . . .<br />
      unsettles the heart,<br />
      distracts the mind,<br />
      chokes the Word,<br />
      leads to distrust, and<br />
      destroys our peace. <br />

      Worry is inconsistent with our profession. We have resigned all into the hands of the Lord—and should leave all to His care.<br />

      Anxiety, or inordinate care, dishonours God. <br />
      It reflects badly upon . . .<br />
      His <em>sufficiency</em>—to supply all;<br />
      His <em>omniscience</em>—to know all;<br />
      His <em>authority </em>and <em>ability</em>—to manage all;<br />
      His <em>mercy</em>, <em>bounty</em> and <em>liberality</em>—as if He would fail us;<br />
      His veracity, fidelity, and immutability—as though His Word may be forfeited, and His promises broken.<br />
      <br />
      Worry . . .<br />
      injures our own souls;<br />
      is opposed to contentment and resignation;<br />
      nourishes impatience and unbelief;<br />
      hinders our usefulness;<br />
      hardens our hearts;<br />
      cuts off divine supplies;<br />
      procures God's rod and frown.<br />
