The LORD Jesus Christ's Second Coming is all about His judgment of the Earth.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"</font><font size="4" color="#000000">26</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>For as the Father hath life in Himself; so hath He given to the Son to have life in Himself;<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#000000">27</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>And hath given Him authority to execute Judgment also, because He is the Son of Man"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(John 5:26-27). The Lamb of God (John 1:36) was alone found worthy to open the seals (Revelation 5:9). The<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"four beasts"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(6:1) are the angelic seraphim around the throne of God described earlier (4:6; 5:6). Though the LORD Jesus Christ returns riding a<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"white horse"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(Revelation 19:11), this rider appears to be a spurious, substitute Christ, i.e., the Antichrist, who begins the Tribulation Week by confirming<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"the covenant with many for one week"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(Daniel 9:27). This<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"conquering"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(6:2) is reminiscent of Hitler's pre-WW2 conquering of Europe by means of the diplomatic appeasement of British prime minister Neville Chamberlain. Antichrist's<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"bow"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>and<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"crown"</font><font size="4">(6:2) indicate that his conquering is based upon his threat of military force and the recognition of governmental power that he already possesses. This Second Seal Judgment is announced by the<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"second beast"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(6:3), i.e., angelic seraphim, with the words,<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"Come and see"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(6:3). This reminds us that the Revelation was first a vision given to the Apostle John before it was penned.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(Revelation 1:3).</font></p> <p align="CENTER" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: auto; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 1; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;">----</p> <ul style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: auto; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 1; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;"> <li><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"</font><font size="4">4<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the Earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword."</font></li> </ul> <p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: auto; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 1; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;"><font size="4">This Second Seal Judgment (6:4) shows us a red horse, which indicates the blood of warfare. Permission must be granted to the rider of the red horse<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"to take peace from the Earth"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(6:4). When the Restraining Influence of the Holy Spirit is suddenly-- but not permanently-- removed via the Pre-Tribulational Rapture of the Saints, then the Antichrist can conduct his conquering by political treaty, i.e.,</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>"the covenant with many for one week"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(Daniel 9:27).<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only He</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>[the Holy Spirit of Promise]<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">who now letteth</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>[restrains]<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">will let</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>[will continue to restrain]</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">, until He</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>[the Holy Spirit via His indwelling in the Saints]</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>be taken out of the way</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>[through the Pre-Tribulational Rapture]</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(2Thessalonians 2:7). God is still in sovereign control of this world.</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>[Job]<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(Job 1:12). Since the Almighty has covenanted that<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"not an hair of your head</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>[should]</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>perish"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(Luke 21:18), then the killing of<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"one another"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>of this judgment by a<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"great sword"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(6:4) indicates a great deal of death-- of the unelect.</font></p> <p align="CENTER" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: auto; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 1; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;">----</p> <ul style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: auto; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 1; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;"> <li><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"</font><font size="4" color="#000000">5</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>And when he had opened the Third Seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. Black indicates the suffering of famine, which is the general consequence of warfare (Second Seal Judgment).<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"Our skin was black like an oven because of the terrible famine"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(Lamentations 5:10). The fact that the rider of this black horse<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"had a pair of balances in his hand"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(6:5) denotes that the weighing out of the food to feed or starve the population of the world is given into the hands of the Antichrist.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good, saith the LORD: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(Jeremiah 21:10). Just as it is true,<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"If God be for us, who can be against us?"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(Romans 8:31), if God wills someone to be judged, who can withstand Him?<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"Who can stand before His indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of His anger? A<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"penny"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(6:6) is used for the Latin word denarius, which was the Roman silver coin that was accepted as the equivalent of the ordinary pay for a day's wages.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"</font><font size="4" color="#000000">2</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard...<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#000000">9</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#000000">10</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#000000">11</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house,<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#000000">12</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#000000">13</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(Matthew 20:2-13).<br> <br> A<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"measure of wheat"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(6:6) weighs roughly between 7 and 8 ounces (approximately 1/2 pound), which would produce about 1/2 of a loaf to one complete loaf of bread.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"</font><font size="4" color="#000000">15</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto Him: but their time should have endured for ever.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#000000">16</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(Psalm 81:15-16). This would only be sufficient for the wage earner to feed himself for a day, but not enough wage left to buy anything else for himself, i.e.,</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>"see thou hurt not the oil and the wine"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(6:6). As the Year 2000 (Y2K) approaches, the population of the planet is projected to be about 6 billion. The<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"fourth part of the Earth"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(6:8) is prophesied to die in this one Seal Judgment alone-- about 1.5 billion people.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(Matthew 7:13). Death for the<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"Word of God, and for the testimony which they held"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(6:9) is distinguished from simply dying as the unelect in the Fourth Seal Judgment. John the Beloved<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(6:9), indicating by their proximity to His throne, the friendship and endearment that the LORD especially has for those who die for Him. Remember,<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(John 15:13). Certainly not all of the Saints have been martyred, but those who have been martyred have been given special mention and honor.</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"</font><font size="4" color="#000000">35</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#000000">36</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#000000">37</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#000000">38</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(Of whom the world was not worthy:)"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(Hebrews 11:35-38).<br> <br> Martyrs especially understand the power of their testimony for the Word of God-- as witnessed by Stephen's martyrdom.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"</font><font size="4">6 [Stephen said]<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">And God spake on this wise...<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#000000">54</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#000000">55</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into Heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God...<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#000000">58</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(Acts 7:6,54-55,58). Both God's Holiness and His Truth demand that He avenge His martyrs, i.e.,<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"O LORD, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the Earth?"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(6:10). Isaiah described the</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>"robe of righteousness"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>of the Saints.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, He hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh Himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(Isaiah 61:10). Paul was confronted with the stark contrast of the<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"filth of the world"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>versus the cleanness that is the<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"righteousness of Saints"</font><font size="4">, i.e.,<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"And to her</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>[the Bride of Christ]<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of Saints"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(Revelation 19:8).<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(1Corinthians 4:13).<br> <br> Not only are the Martyred Saints given<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"white robes"</font><font size="4">, but they are told to wait a<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(6:11). How long is a<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"little season"</font><font size="4">? Less than 7 years-- the Tribulation Week. Also, Satan is loosed from the Bottomless Pit for a<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"little season"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>after the End of the Millennium.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"And cast him</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>[Satan]</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>into the Bottomless Pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(Revelation 20:3).<br> <br> How are these Martyred Saints killed? They were evidently beheaded.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span><b>beheaded</b><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>for the witness of Jesus, and for the Word of God, and which had not worshipped the Beast<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span></font><font size="4">[the Antichrist]</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(Revelation 20:4). The men of Bethshemesh, who looked into the Ark of the LORD, were slain by the LORD. The surviving Bethshemites exclaimed,</font><font size="4" color="#AA0000">"Who is able to stand before this holy LORD God?"</font><font size="4"><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(1Samuel 6:20).
