The Journey of Israel 8

</p>

And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. (Luke 9:23)

The Lord is calling us today to the third death and resurrection. It is impossible to enter the land of promise until we give our entire personality and life to the Lord Jesus. Jesus must become our personal Lord!

The Canaanites symbolize Satan, the fallen angels, the demons, and all else associated with Satan and the works of darkness. They are the spirits and practices that the Lord hates. They currently live in the members of the churches, and in the nations as well, and must be driven from us before we will be able to appear with the Lord in the day of redemption.

Are you willing to have the Lord remove from your personality and behavior all worldliness, all lust and violence, and all self-seeking? Jesus is able to do this but you must ask for such total deliverance and be willing to follow the Lord as He brings you from conquest to conquest over the darkness that is in you.

The conquest of Canaan portrays the overcoming of Satan and the gaining of the fullness of eternal, incorruptible, indestructible eternal life—life lived in the fullness of the Spirit of God just as the Lord Jesus lives.

Our inheritance as sons of God includes, first of all, the full possession of God Himself—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. (John 14:23)

Our inheritance includes dominion over all the works of God's hands—angelic and human.

Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. (Hebrews 2:8)

Our inheritance includes all that is associated with the new Jerusalem, the new earth, and the new heaven.

He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. (Revelation 21:7)

Before we are able to enter our inheritance we must, through Christ, dispossess Satan. We must conquer Satan. It is only then that we can enter the Divine rest, the rest that includes fellowship with the Godhead and the holy angels. It is only then that we can inherit all the works of God's hands. It is only then that we can inherit all that is included in the new Jerusalem, the new earth, and the new heaven.

All these are our rightful inheritance as sons of God. But we have lost them through the disobedience of Adam and Eve. Now our inheritance must be redeemed—even our own body.

And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. (Romans 8:23)

The redemption of our body marks our adoption as a son of God. Our new inner nature already has been born of God but our body must be adopted.

We are not able to redeem ourselves. Our Redeemer had to come from Heaven, suffer and then die on the cross, paying off the mortgage Satan held on us, and then rise again that He might bring us home to the Father. (from The Day of Redemption)
