You have left your old sinful life and the things you did before. You have begun to live the new life, in which you are being made new and are becoming like the One who made you ''(Colossians 3:9-10).

'''Note the items for which Scripture is of profit.'''
+
''Say only yes if you mean yes, and no if you mean no. If you say more than yes or no, it is from the Evil One'' (Matthew 5:37).
Most people are interested in profit. Here is profit that is abiding. But some of the items are not liked so well. Doctrine is all right. Most folks that are spiritual at all enjoy some doctrine, teaching. But reproof that is different. We like to reprove, but do not care to be reproved. But the reproof of the Scriptures should be accepted with thankfulness. There is also correction. If our way is wrong, then we can correct it by the Word. But it is hard to admit that one is wrong. This is a grace that can be learned by practice. Then there is the instruction in righteousness. God's ways are righteous. We need to know them so we can walk in them and so be instructed in righteousness. Now the object of all this profitable work of the Word is that the man of God might be perfect, not perfect morally as so many think, but perfect in that he can accomplish that for which he was created.

If things weren't already strange enough in today's society, now some people want to abolish honesty. One noted physician, for example, appeared on a network news-and-talk show and proclaimed, "Lying is an important part of social life, and children who are unable to do it are children who may have developmental problems." Is the saying "Honesty is the best policy becoming obsolete?

No one can love God unless he knows God. And God can be known only from the Word that tells us about Him. David said, THY WORD HAVE '''I HID IN MINE HEART, THAT I MIGHT NOT SIN AGAINST THEE''' (Psalms 119: 11).
+
Two surveys taken recently may indicate that many people think it is. A USA Today poll found that only 56 percent of Americans teach honesty to their children. It looks like it's time for those of us who live by God's standard to recommit ourselves to honesty.

Evidently he knew this counsel of God. The Jews knew that knowledge of the Word and belief in it brought life, so it was the custom at the Passover that the youngest child that could talk would ask the question as to why they observed this feast, so that the father then could recite the deliverance from Egypt of which this feast was a remembrance.
+
'''I. WHO WE DECEIVE: '''

If believing is the requirement for resurrection, as John 3:16 indicates, then it was necessary for parents who loved their little ones and wished that they live again, to give them the Word as soon as they could repeat it and grasp it.

The Word of God was to be a common topic of conversation in the home. Many of the Hebrew children memorised long passages and some even learned all the OT from memory. It was only natural that the children should grow up as believers.

And there is a profitable lesson for today too.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God. No doubt Paul had in mind all Scripture written up to this time. That then would include the Bible as we have it today except Second Timothy, which he was writing. We have no doubt about it also being inspired.. We do not include the Apocrypha, for it was introduced along with the LXX, not in the Hebrew Scriptures.

• The Adulterer says, "I NEED her/his love."

We note in the verse before that Paul says, And that from a child thou hast known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. No doubt Timothy up to this point had

access to all Scriptures except this one last epistle, and now he has that.
+

All the Scriptures then were God-breathed. And because they are the inspired Word of God, we have the words added, And is profitable. We are always interested in that which is profitable, and we should be. And what can be more profitable than the Scriptures which speak of the unsearchable riches of Christ?

An Associated Press poll found that almost half of the people regularly call in sick when they're not. Ninety-one percent of them say they lie regularly, at work and at home. In another poll, sixty-five percent of America's high school students say they would cheat on an important exam. Fifty-three percent said they would lie to protect a friend who vandalizes school property.

C. God
1. For Doctrine. This refers to teaching. Our teaching concerning the dispensation of the mystery is found in Ephesians 1-3 especially. Also much doctrine is set forth in Colossians.
+
2. For Reproof. If we have proof, then we should have. conviction. And this is the meaning of the word. But the Word can only reprove when believed. Reproof then comes from being convinced of the truth.
+
3. For Correction. This is the only place this word is used. It means to right up again, set to rights, to restore. With rudder and compass one can set right the course of the ship. So is the inspired Word.
+

4. For Instruction in Righteousness. The word here is sometimes translated discipline. Also it can mean to teach. But the goal of the instruction or teaching is to go on unto righteousness. To Israel the righteousness of God was revealed by the law. Now He deals with mankind righteously in grace because of the work of the Son. We have an imputed righteousness, the righteousness of Christ. But there is a righteousness to be put in practice in the daily walk of the Christian.
+
Of course, we can't actually deceive God, but we try to. It's amazing that we would try to lie to Someone who detects our every thought (Psalm 139:2) and even knows our motives and intentions better than we do (Jeremiah 17:9-10).

That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
+
'''II. WHY WE DECEIVE: '''
This is the goal. It has to do with both walk and the ministry of the saints.
+
The walk of the member of the body of Christ is outlined in Ephesians 4-6. It is to walk worthy of the calling. Perfect means to be fitted. And furnished means equipped. So one is to be fitted and equipped for every good work.
+
To make the message a bit plainer, let us join the first and the last in this manner, All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

In this video we expose the pagan Trinity. We answer the questions - Is the Trinity doctrine in the Bible? Why do Christians believe in a Trinity? We also give amazing facts and proof that the Trinity is a false doctrine. In exposing the Trinity lie one must be willing to take a clear and unbiased look at the Bible and Christian history. It's amazing how the facts regarding the pagan Trinity are so numerous and overwhelming. The history of the Church can be eye-opening. Why does the Roman Catholic church believe in a Trinity? Why do Protestants believe in a Trinity? Where did the false Trinity doctrine come from?

In USA Today, Jerald Jellison says, "Each of us fibs at least 50 times a day. We lie about our age, our income, or our accomplishments. And we use lies to escape embarrassment. A common reason for "little white lies," we are told, is to protect someone else's feelings. yet in so doing, we are really protecting ourselves. According to Jellison, here are the most common fibs: "I wasn't feeling well." "I didn't want to hurt your feelings." "The check is in the mail." "I was just kidding." "I was only trying to help."

A woman once said to a famous evangelist, "I'm deeply troubled over a problem that I know is hurting my testimony. It's the habit of exaggeration. I start to tell something, and then go on and enlarge the story until it's all distorted. People know that what I say is not true, and lose confidence in me. I wonder if you can help me?" The evangelist looked at her and said, "Let's talk to the Lord about it." She prayed, "O God, Thou knowest that I have this tendency to exaggerate -" At this point the evangelist interrupted, "Call it lying, Madam, and you may get over it!" The woman began to weep and finally made a fully confession of her evil habit.

Do not lie to each other.

You have left your old sinful life and the things you did before. You have begun to live the new life, in which you are being made new and are becoming like the One who made you (Colossians 3:9-10).

So you must stop telling lies. Tell each other the truth, because we all belong to each other in the same body (Ephesians 4:25).

Say only yes if you mean yes, and no if you mean no. If you say more than yes or no, it is from the Evil One (Matthew 5:37).

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so God can heal you (James 5:16).

Two surveys taken recently may indicate that many people think it is. A USA Today poll found that only 56 percent of Americans teach honesty to their children. It looks like it's time for those of us who live by God's standard to recommit ourselves to honesty.

I. WHO WE DECEIVE:

A. Self

• The Alcoholic says "One beer won't hurt me."

• The Addict to pornography says, "If my spouse was only a better lover."

• The Adulterer says, "I NEED her/his love."

B. Others

C. God

Of course, we can't actually deceive God, but we try to. It's amazing that we would try to lie to Someone who detects our every thought (Psalm 139:2) and even knows our motives and intentions better than we do (Jeremiah 17:9-10).

II. WHY WE DECEIVE:

A. To Avoid Pain

B. Out of Habit

C. For a Higher Good.

• Corrie Ten Boom deceived the Nazis about hiding Jews.

• Rahab the Harlot deceived her people about the Israelite spies (Joshua 2:1-6; James 2:25).

• An undercover drug agent uses a false ID to gain information.

• The Hebrew midwives deceived Pharaoh to save the life of Hebrew babies (Exodus 1:15-21).

III. HONESTY IS COMMANDED WITH OTHERS IN THE BODY OF CHRIST:

Do not lie to each other (Colossians 3:9). A traffic cop flagged down a young driver, got his name, then snarled, "Oh, so you're a preacher, hey? Now don't go telling me you didn't see that stop sign." The honest pastor said, "Oh, to be sure I say the sign, officer. The point is - I didn't see you." Now that's truthfulness!

Dr. Alan Redpath, former pastor of Moody Memorial Church, tells of the time his father, after a brief period of tension in the home, looked across the table at his wife and said, "I'm so sorry I spoke to you the way I did. I'm ashamed of myself." Dr. Redpath said that although at the time he was not a Christian, he went to his room after the meal, knelt, and prayed, "O God, I thank you for a father like that. Make me more like him."

IV. WHY SHOULD WE BE HONEST AND TRUTHFUL? A. God is truthful in all He says (Number 23:19) and you are becoming like the One who made you (2 Corinthians 3:18).

B. We are family and part of the same body. -- Working together cannot be done in distrust (Ephesians 4:15,25).

C. Satan is the Father of lies (John 8:44).

D. Honesty is necessary for our healing (James 5:15).es, for encouragement for the fulfillment of this Promise from
