Man-centeredness, 18

And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. (Revelation 13:11, 12)

The False Prophet is the religious spirit of the last days that will seek to do the miracles of Christ apart from patient waiting on the Lord. The recent "faith" and "prosperity" doctrines are examples of the False Prophet. The False Prophet arises from the "earth," that is, from the soul of man. As a result, imaging and other supernatural practices are included in his methods of gaining control of the material world.

The False Prophet is not patient and meek. He demands the answer now and seeks to get what he desires by "speaking the word of faith."

The False Prophet will assist the man-centered governments to rule the world, thinking the will of Christ is being done. We see this today as Charismatic leaders go to the leaders of government and tell them all they are required to do is acknowledge the facts of salvation and speak in tongues. They do not warn them of God's insistence on thorough repentance, on self-control, on judgment to come.

The Charismatic ministers boast of how this official and that official have "accepted Christ." But in many instances the "saved" officials are not disciples of the Lord. They have "accepted Christ" because it appears to them to be advantageous in terms of their own desires and ambitions.

Will they stand when they are required to give up everything to please the Lord?

Will these "Christian" officials serve the Lord when they are forced to lose everything for the Gospel's sake? Will they buy the refined gold of faith tried in the fire of suffering? Will they proclaim the name of the Lord Jesus when it means loss of prestige, imprisonment, torture, martyrdom?

If not, their profession of Christ is superficial. They are not true disciples of the Lord Jesus.

"Another beast" is the False Prophet. He exercises the full power (two horns) of the Lamb (Christ) but his voice is that of the dragon (Satan).

The False Prophet will support the Antichrist government with miraculous signs.

And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. (Revelation 13:13, 14)

Antichrist, with the help of the False Prophet and Babylon, will persecute the Lord's elect viciously, but their efforts to destroy the anointed saints will result in the purifying of the Bride of the Lamb.

There will be a holy remnant in the last days, saints who patiently bear their cross behind Jesus, who keep the commandments of God, and who hold steadfastly to their faith in the Lord Jesus (Revelation 14:12). They will escape the deceptions of Babylon, Antichrist, and the False Prophet.

They will enter into the Amen of Christ, into the rest of God.
