'''Demonic Activity in Our Day'''

This book has discussed the origin of Satan, his fall, his present domain and work, and his final destruction. The origin of demons and their attributes and work have also been presented. In addition, we have seen that witchcraft, sorcery, ouija boards, palm readers, crystal gazing, white magic, I Ching, telepathy, tarot cards, astrological charts, and the Oriental meditation cults are undoubtedly associated with demonic spirits in high places (see Ephesians 6:12). Such practices are condemned by the Almighty God, and His people are to avoid them at all costs.

In this final chapter, we will investigate the great increase in occult activities presently taking place in America and other nations of the world. What about the church of Satan, for example? Do the worshippers actually submit to immoral sex acts in the rites of this church? Do they cut their bodies and make "blood pacts?" Are fingers severed in order to offer sacrifices to Lucifer? 

What about other forms of supernatural activity? Are fortune-tellers, clairvoyants, palm readers, spiritists and voodoo participants in league with demons? This study may appear gruesome, but we need to be aware of what is happening and why it is happening. Let's look at the facts.

'''Satan's Church'''

San Francisco, California, is the home of the First Church of Satan and headquarters for that organization. Billy Zeoli of Gospel Films in Muskegon, Michigan, went to the area to research a movie on demonism and discovered that 4,000 of the 8,000 local devil worshippers had left evangelical, Bible-preaching churches to join the temple of Satan! As we discovered in chapter 3, this is exactly what the Bible predicts for the latter times (see 1 Timothy 4:1 and Revelation 9:20).

Not only is the church of Satan a fulfilment of this prophecy, but the numerous mind religions which deny the doctrine of Christ also have as their leaders human beings who have become controlled by evil spirits. Beware of any religious group denying the virgin birth of Christ, His deity (the fact that He is God), His blood atonement, or bodily resurrection. Avoid individual preachers in the mainline denominations who scoff these truths and declare the Bible a book of myths. Such men have become possessed by demons.

This is why 1 John 4:13 warns, Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. (Either the Holy Spirit or a demonic spirit controls the teacher, and we are to test these teachers to see which spirit controls them. What is the test?) Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit (or teacher) that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist ....

One either has the Spirit of Christ, or he has the spirit of the Antichrist which is a demonic presence dwelling within him. Watch out for these demons in the pulpit who make light of the cross and the blood. Remember the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness (1 Corinthians 1:18). It is foolishness to them because a demonic spirit feeds them this lie. Those who give attention to their sermons are actually hearing from a human being energized by Satan as such a minister mocks God's Holy Word.

'''Satan's Worship Service'''

The devil has instituted some elaborate worship services to intrigue and then capture his victimized congregation. Let's look in on one such service by quoting from Mike Warnke's book, The Satan Seller. Mr. Warnke was the high priest of Satan in San Bernardino, California, and had over 1,500 members in his devil's assembly. Included were salesmen, carpenters, teachers, students, college professors, housewives, clerks, businessmen, truck drivers, and even a few preachers and priests! He describes a black mass as follows: "A bearded sorcerer in a Satan suit stands before an altar adorned with a naked woman. A circle of people nine feet in diameter are seated on the floor. In the centre of the circle is the altar, a granite slab supported by two sawhorses. On the slab lies the woman, nude and waiting, her skin glowing red in the light given off by candles and the bale of fire burning in a crucible nearby. An inverted cross (the blasphemous symbol of the peace movement) and an image of a goat's head stand at each end of the altar. 

The rituals are reversed and profaned. The sacraments are desecrated. Blasphemies take the place of prayers and words attributed to Satan are read from the book, The Great Mother, which is held open on the stomach of the naked girl.

A man comes forward and slips his finger into the confining pattern of nails and closes his eyes. An axe is lifted and brought down with force. His little finger, down to the second knuckle, remains on the board. He is immediately taken to a doctor. Then they take the blood sacrifice to Satan and mix it for communion." Now get this next statement young people and remember that I am quoting the ex-high priest of the San Bernardino church of Satan who is now converted." We initiated the young into satanic worship through rock music as a prelude to our rituals, and encouraged the heavy usage of drugs to get them with it. Yes, rock music plays an important part in our demonic services."

How sad that this same music plays a part in so many Christian services across the land. Christians should give no offence in any thing (see 2 Corinthians 6:3), much less imitate the church of Satan. Why not believe the Bible and practice what it teaches? Sing unto him a new song (Psalm 33:3). He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God (Psalm 40:3). Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord (Ephesians 5:19). Many are against the plain, simple, unelaborate services of some of the gospel preaching, salvation-seeking, altar-calling denominations. Yet, if one studies the four Gospels and the Book of Acts, he immediately realizes that this type of church is biblical.

Satan worshippers are also responsible for other evil occurrences, ranging from theft to outright murder. The Miami, Florida RNS News Service reports, "Satan-worshipping cultists have broken into churches in the Ft. Lauderdale area six times recently. They caused $1,800 damage to the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church when they smashed the tabernacle and looted the display case. Christ Lutheran Catholic Church was reported to be the scene of two black masses. 

Reverend Louis Golder, pastor of the church said, 'They drove a knife into the Bible on the pulpit. the altar was draped in black lace. They undoubtedly used the altar of God for sexual relations, and they turned the cross upside down (there is the peace sign once again!)."'

Again in Florida, the police have found bowls of blood, cows tongues nailed to trees, and the heads of children and animal parts used in worship to Satan and his demons. Detective David Truman said, "These are not just kids out for fun. This is the worship service of the devil."

Four members of a Satanist cult were charged in the slaying of one Florida youth. The victim had been flogged with chains and stabbed with cut glass while tied to a black wooden table in the altar room of the church. Nicklos Frazee, a resident at the cult's home, said that he had been married by a satanic priest, and that both he and his bride had to slash their stomachs during the ceremony. In addition, they were required to sign their names in blood and denounce God. Charles Manson and his motley crew were also tied in with such activities.

The message of John 8:44 gives the reason behind such horrifying reports: (They) are of (their) father the devil, and the lusts of (their) father (they) will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. Because he is a murderer, Satan instils murder in the hearts of his followers. Revelation 9:21 lists the vile deeds which will be committed by the Satan worshippers of the Tribulation Hour, stating: Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication (all forms of immorality and sexual abuse), nor of their thefts. Surely today's news headlines and social concerns evidence the fact that the world is speeding toward this terrible time.

'''Satanic Deliverance'''

So important is the Bible's message concerning the power of the demonic world that I want to re-emphasise God's provision of deliverance through salvation. When one receives the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour he becomes a partaker of His divine nature (see 2 Peter 1 :4). In other words. God dwells within him through the Holy Spirit. Because of this fact, the satanic hosts are unable to penetrate a Christian as far its possession is concerned. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them (the powers of evil) because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4). Again, in 1 John 3:9 we read, Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for this (God's) seed remaineth in him....This seed-the Holy Spirit-- abiding the believer, will not permit an evil spirit to live in the same body with Christ.. 

In addition. He empowers the individual to live a victorious, holy life. I can do all things though Christ which strengtheneth me (Philippians 1:13). Yes, the answer for all is salvation through Jesus Christ If you have come under the influence of demonic powers through telepathy oriental mind cults such as transcendental meditation -which is nothing more than the religion of Hinduism-or under the bondage of some false religious group which mocks the doctrine of Christ, get saved today. The Holy Spirit will immediately drive out and away the enemy who has held you captive. It you have been in contact with fortune-tellers, tea leaf readers, parapsychologists, clairvoyants, crystal gazers, ouija boards, tarot cards or any of the one hundred and one other abominable practices of the occult world, let Jesus Christ come into your heart. 

He will readily and literally set you free! When the Lord Jesus Christ lives in one's heart there is no room for demon possession; because Jesus consistently cast demons out during His ministry on earth. He cast out these spirits with His word (see Matthew 13:16). And he...cast out many devils and suffered not the devils to speak because theft knew him (Mark 1:34). And He preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out many devils (Mark 1:39). Jesus also gave His disciples authority over unclean spirits (see Mark 6:7). In Luke 10:19-20, the Saviour said, Behold. I give you power to tread on serpents ...and nothing shall by any means hurt YOU ...the spirits are subject unto you. I repeat at. there is no room for demons in the heart of a Christian. Deliverance can be yours today through the Lord Jesus Christ.

To those who are Christians. I want to say that although you cannot be possessed by demons they can implant thoughts in your mind through suggestion. If you dwell upon such thoughts you will surely fall into sin. This is exactly what happened to Ananias and his wife Sapphira in Acts 5:3. But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost .... Oh, it is so important to control one's thought life-it is so important to obey James 4:7 

Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Get into God's Word. Study it. Memorize it. Apply it to your life day by day. Then the blessed Holy Spirit himself, and He, alone, will dominate, motivate, and control your life.

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not (Jeremiah 33:3).
